Interested

Hello all!

I've recently become interested in becoming a member of Beta Sigma Phi. I JUST e-mailed the International Office to get some more information, but I thought I would come to GC, as well.

As you can see from my signature, I'm also a member of Sigma Delta Tau and Alpha Phi Omega. I'm attracted to BSP because it seems like something I could definitely continue with and build after graduation. I couldn't really find much information about chapters in my area, however. I know there are online chapters...do these function as regular chapters?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Email them! membership@betasigmaphi.org

They will find a chapter near you! That is how I started!

Welcome, Sarah! I am another BSP/APO member. I also first became familiar with Beta Sigma Phi through the internet, and I was able to start a new chapter in Amherst, Massachusetts. Feel free to visit our website! http://pages.ivillage.com/umassbeta

I am a member of Online Kappa (Jill1228 is a Kappa as well), and I totally LOVE my online chapter. These women are the greatest! Each online chapter is different. Some are more formal with regular meetings (Kappa has monthly meetings), and some are more casual (You can ask "bsp_mich" about Online Alpha Phi). In most cases, you must be a member of a land chapter before joining online.

Well, come back again. I hope you like our forum.

Erica:)

Thanks for all the help! My name is now in the database, so it's just a waiting game, I suppose.

The International office is really prompt!

Jill1228 08-25-2003 09:18 PM

They are prompt. Within 3 weeks, I heard from a chapter!

So I wanted to bump this because I recently contacted the National Office again. I never heard from a chapter last time, but I hope I will this time. Are there just not many chapters in Georgia? I find it a little odd, especially since sororities are so big in the south.

If you want to tell me a few cities you are near, I can check my Torch and see what chapters are in that area!

I live in Atlanta, but I put my mom's zip code, since that's where my permanent address is. I'm near Stockbridge, McDonough, Fayetteville...and on the north side I guess I'm close to Marietta.

Wow...lol. Thanks!
Clearly there are plenty of chapters...

Sarah,

I'm another BSP/APO'er. I think there is a lot of this combo because APO doesn't seem to have a very active alumni participation, and there are those of us who want to continue the fellowship and service after college.

Sometimes it takes a while to hear from chapters in your area. Nationals is very diligent in getting prospective member's info to chapters/city councils, it just sometimes takes them a while to reach you. I moved to a new city in Nov, and I have yet to hear from any area chapters. But no worries! I know they'll get in touch.

Good luck with your search!

Nicole

Ohio?

Hello! I was just looking at the BSF website and it sounds like something I might want to get involved in. Can anyone tell me if there is a chapter in the NW Ohio (Toledo) area?

Thanks!

erica812 03-24-2005 02:47 PM

I'm happy to hear of your interest! I don't have my copy of the Torch (sorority magazine) nearby, but I will get back to you when I can. I know a few Ohio sisters, but I'm not sure what part of the state they are in.

Good luck!
Erica
