Just curious - Has to do with U of I
 

Just curious about this. Yes........I'm old; probably ancient as far as most of you are concerned. Anyway, I have wondered this for some time and have just now thought about trying to look something up. I was in the Kappa chapter of Alpha Xi Delta. I noticed that the U of I didn't have it anymore. What's going on with the house? It was/is beautiful. Did another sorority move in? If anyone knows, I would love to hear. Can't say that I'll be checking this site out too much. I don't know anything about the U of I, but don't worry about feeling old! There are plenty of us here who are 30+, and a lot of moms here too.

I know a little bit about Alpha Xi Delta - I am marrying one next month! Anyway, I was trying to help you out but could not find anything about their departure on the school website - although, I didn't have a ton of time to search.

The chapter closed around '93 or '94. I think it was their location that really hurt them. I remember going there during rush in '92 and it was quite a hike from the next closest house.

All I know is that (according to the history), the house went on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, so no matter who is there now, I imagine it's still beautiful!

And ours is gorgeous I just have to say. My chapter road tripped up to visit them when I was a pledge.

Our houses are pretty impressive, for the Midwest, at least. I can't think of anything on Michigan off the top of my head. At one point in time, we had over 130 HOUSED orgs., so a lot of them have been converted into apartments or bought by the university for other purposed. I don't think another org. has your house, though.

There are 30 sororities on campus now (up from 26 when I was there) but it doesn't look like any of them are in the Alpha Xi Delta house.

When were you there? Of the 30, only 20 are housed.

I pledged in the Fall of 85 as a sophomore and graduated in 88.
I have not forgotton how badly my feet hurt walking to 26 sororities over 2 days! Is Delta Beta your house?
