Sweet Adelines
 

I was just wondering if anyone is a member of a Sweet Adelines group.

I just joined one and it is SO HOKEY, but SO FUN! I really like it!

Is that a singing group? Kind of like a female barbershop quartet (only bigger)? If so, I've seen them and they are CUTE!

Alas, I cannot carry a tune in a bucket. ;)

My little is in this. I believe she's the prez of her group actually. She says the same thing - corny, but she loves it. It's a nice outlet for music (she was a music marketing major) when your regular job doesn't include it.

Yes, it is women's four-part harmony in barbershop style, but we do more than just barbershop. Our particular chorus has a younger demographic than some of them. Lots of us are in our 20's although a lot are in their 30's 40's or more! The youngest girl is 9 years old! You get in by audition, but it is not that tough.

If you think of frills rush, as far as some of the really dramaticised song-skit type things, it's like that, but with four part harmony. So fun!:p

Ooooooooh, that sounds like it's just right up my alley! I'm not that good a singer, but I like to sing anyway and if it's hokey, I'm there. ;)

This looks super cute! They have a chapter in my hometown and I just suggested to my mother that she join. :) She sings beautifully!

It helps if you can read music, and I do, since that's my degree! But, you don't have to at all!!!!!

They give you learning tapes with your part so that you can listen to it and learn it that way! So easy!

Seriously, I think only about 4 of us actually have a degree in music, but the chorus is really good. They are going to international competition in Sept. I will not go because I just joined and do not have the contest package learned, don't have the costuming (haven't even been measured yet!), etc.

More people our age should give this a try :)

Plus, if you join before you turn 25, you only have to pay 37.50 for your membership fee! Woo hoo, I got in just in time here...my b-day is in less than 2 months :)

That is soo cute!! I wish i could join something like that. I would love to do it! Maybe someday......
