The Osbourne's Season Finale

What are your thoughts on it?

Do you think the whole show was scripted? Or, just that episode?

And about Jack killing Minnie, personally I thought that joke was extremely bad in taste.

kdonline 08-12-2003 11:52 PM

OH, I thought that was SICK.

Animal crueltly is nothing to joke about.

(I rescue dogs...)

Peaches-n-Cream 08-12-2003 11:56 PM

It was sick. I think that parts of the show are scripted.

I couldn't figure out what the hell was going after I saw the ending that implied the show was scripted. I honestly thought Jack killed Minnie.

Was it just me, or did they repeat about a quarter of the episode. Like it went to commercial break and then came back and showed exactly what was just shown before the break.

I don't think the entire show was scripted -- I mean, think of some of the fluff they made episodes out of. What would be the point of scripting that? There's a very "scripted" vibe to a lot of reality shows ("Joe Millionaire," anyone?) but I didn't really get that with "The Osbournes" much.

My theater class group did an exercise like this once for a project -- performed a scene from a play that was integrated into real life. Basically, we were trying to blur the boundaries between what theater is and what real life is, trying to force people to ask themselves where you draw the distinction? Because, in essence, aren't we almost always performing in one sense or another?

Part of me thinks this episode was trying to play around with that concept. The other part of me thinks they were just wanting to play a stupid joke on all the viewers. :p

I did not see the ending so I really thought he had killed her  until I talked with a friend of mine later. It was confusing because I read a few weeks ago that Minnie was attacked by coyotes and Ozzy saved her. I wasn't sure how that could have happened if she was already dead!

I think the last episode was a joke in extremely poor taste, but I don't think the rest of the season was scripted. Imagine if those hidden cameras had been in Jack's room all year. They would have made for some very interesting viewing!

A little bit like it would be in your room? Loud and smokey?

YES!! First of all I was completely traymatized when I saw Jack kill Minnie and then they showed it AGAIN!! I flipped the channel the second time around. I actually got teary when Ozzy had to tell Sharon, he seemed genuinely upset about it. My dog was killed a few years back and my hubby broke the news to me, so I could relate.

I thought that joke was in poor tase, but what can you expect from MTV? I'm sure someone got a kick out of it.

sugar and spice 08-13-2003 06:42 PM

Mine re-showed part of it, too. Of course, it could have been a legitimate mistake on the part of MTV (it's happened during an episode of Real World Chicago that I watched too), but I've heard the theory that MTV replayed it because they know people would be talking to their friends online or something, saying, "Oh my god, Jack just killed the dog on the Osbournes!" and those people would turn on their TVs and want to see, and there it was conveniently replayed just for them.

I wouldn't put it past MTV.

That's just crazy! Ah!

Never have I ever been more confused... cept when I saw the movie Identity.

Anyways, seriously if they scripted the whole series, that's sooooo shitty. It's prolly the worst prank pulled ever on TV and I think it would make the Osbournes looks really bad too. Alot of people began to love them because of the TV show. I did too, but it didn't make me love them enough to start listening to Ozzy's music.

LuaBlanca 08-20-2003 10:47 PM

Glad to know I wasn't the only one that was confused by this episode...!

MoonStar17 08-21-2003 09:00 AM

didn't see it...will have to look for reruns...you know how MTV is..they play it OVER and OVER and OVER for a month or a few weeks...

HEY...sharon is getting a talk show on WB...anyone else think this is just like....   ?????????????
