How Would...

How would you feel if someone came on this board and said that they went to the AKAs on their campus and told them that they were interested in their organization. Now,the only thing to determine if they get into the organization is their GPA.

okay, I'll bite. . .

As some of my Sorors have said before, and I believe someone even has it in their signature, DISCRETION IS THE KEY!

Sit down here and lemme give you a little bit of what we used to do back in the "olden days". . .

Way back when I was in undergrad at an HBCU, no one really knew what Sorority we were interested in until we showed up at the interest meeting. Don't know what the young whipper-snappers are doing these days - don't think too many know what discretion is (hint: I would give the definition to my 8-year old daugher as "shhhhh. . .).

Now to answer your question: I personally believe that the move you describe wasn't in that person's best interest. Like I said a few seconds ago, maybe things are different than when I was in school, but it seems like everything is out in the open now. And I"m sure there's more to it than just the person's GPA getting them in the organization. Back in my day (yeah, that again) and I'm sure now, as you're watching members of your organization of choice, believe you me, they're keeping their eye on you. So I'm sure there's more at stake other than their GPA. How does this person carry herself? Does she hang around "questionable" people with "questionable" morals? You said that this person went to the Alpha Kappa Alpha women on her campus - just let her know that being a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha "is a SERIOUS matter"!

LOL

Actually,I got this off of another board, but I changed it to see how you all would respond.XYZ organization seemed to be fine with the young lady saying that she had did this. This is what I am talking about in my post "Good." The way that the AKAs on here ENFORCE DISCRETION lets me know what you all are about.XYZ organization took it with a grain of salt, but you all are ready to nip the problem in the bud. This is so AWESOME.

So now you testin' us?? You KNOW how we would respond. I'll give it to you in one word: DELETE. :p Afterwards, if I'm feeling especially nice, I'd PM the person and tell them (in a nice way of course) that they talk too much. Erebody ain't gotta know erethang. :p

I agree with everything Soror btb87 said.

But, alas, because this thread has to do with (what?) MEMBERSHIP, it will be locked. Plus, I don't want to hear nobody's mouth about how they handle their interests and all that carryin' on. We know how WE do it over here on the Ave.

DE6, thank you for APPRECIATING how we run our forum and the value that we have placed on discretion. I'm glad some of y'all out there get it.
