Grand Jury Assembled
I just looked on the CNN website and saw that the new independent counsel, Robert Ray, has leaked a story to the press noting that a grand jury has been assembled to investigate whether or not President Clinton should be indicted after he leaves office. Today at the Democratic National Convention, Al Gore will make an acceptance speech. The independent counsel's office (a very Republican unit--a la Ken Starr) had this grand jury gathered for a month, but they waited until today to release it. Don't you think that's rather interesting?

That is very suspicious indeed. I wish they would just give it up.

Just a political reality note about the timing of the announcement: do you think that if the situation was reversed, and Democrats were holding this sort of thing over Republicans, that they would wait until AFTER the enemy's convention?
Politics is a dirty game and ALL (I repeat ALL) of its players have mud caked on them. We get so caught up in the "poor Bill Clinton" syndrome that we forget that his camp would dish the same back at the Republicans, if they had comparable dirt. Who do you think brought out the George W. Bush cocaine-use issue? |
Regardless of the announcement. Gore gave a very good speech last night! Tipper was pretty good too. I was worried about Al for a while...but I think he will do a pretty good job.
Al is now on the campaign trail heading down the Mississippi River...he will be in Clinton, Iowa tomorrow. My mom is the Mayor there (YES - there are Black people in Iowa) So if you see the news and they cover Iowa ...and a cute little Black woman with gray hair is next to Gore....THAT'S MY MAMA!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Politics is a simple matter of "who gets what" by any means necessary. It doesn't matter what the party affiliation is. It is all about who has the power. And we all know that information is power. Remember also that money can buy you alot of information.
Power is simply "getting someone/something to do what they wouldn't ordinarily do." So, if the democrats revealed the fact that George W. had a cocaine habit, then they may get someone to vote for Al Gore who may not have ordinarily done so. If the republicans put out word of a grand jury investigation, then that information my cause someone to vote against the democratic candidate, who may not have ordinarily done so. The information that the parties have is used to gain more power than the other. I agree with Discogoddess, politics is indeed a dirty game where the rule remains - He who has the most information (power) wins! |
