Living with Sisters
Hello Sisters!!! At Iota Beta we don't have a house but a lot of us have been roommates and there is about an equal share of good stories and horror stories. Well this year I am going to be living with one of my sisters who also happens to be one of my best friends! :D I'm super excited about it and I think we are going to have a great time together like always but some of the other sisters have given us a "I don't think that is going to work out," attitude. I was wondering to all of you who have either lived in the house or been in a similar situation what your opinion is about living with sisters. I've lived with a roommate before (not a sister) but she hasn't I'm kinda scared that maybe this will ruin our relationship which others have told us it would. What is everyone's take on this???

Don't fret! I lived with Alpha Phi sisters all throughout college and they remain my best friends to this day.
You'll have a blast! |
I *did* live in the Alpha Phi house for three years and they were the best years I had in college. It was so much fun.
Sure, living with 32 other people can be trying, but there is nothing like a house full of sisters. There is always someone to talk to, watch tv with, study with, snack with...anytime you need a friend. It was awesome. I highly recommend living with your Alpha Phi sisters. |
Need to mention to ya....
Hey sistah, our chapter house fits only 9 girls. Its a "no way Jose'" type of place to live. So majority of our sisters live with each other as well! I was just mentioning in the "Highs & Lows" forum that I live with four other sisters. Two of them I lived with for 8 months. One of them, unfortunately has been a beast of every sort possible. Its been a pulling hair and teeth situation. We weren't friends, just called ourselves sisters and she needed a roommate. So me and another sister decided to share the master. But let me say this, she is not your typical Phi and she isnt your typical girl. I wouldnt expect any other chapter or sorority to accept her if they saw her true colors like us ladies do here. Its in the works to help her out and step up her standards Phi wise and human wise. As long as you openly communicate all issues with respect, honesty and loyalty, your friendship shouldnt be severed. One day at a time my dear! Be fabulous and fierce!

Unfortunatley, when I moved in with two sisters (one was my best friend at school) it turned out horribly. First of all, I was totally stuck in the middle of the other two's fights - they were complete opposites when it came to EVERYTHING. Secondly, the girl i was close to started to get on my every nerve, and we haven't been friends since. It makes me really sad cuz she was a good friend - just a bad roomate. However, I don't think this means you are doomed...this was the first time this girl had ever really been on her own and didn't adjust very well to it - she was horrible at communicating with me in an adult way. So just keep those lines of communication open, and realize that you will start to see small things about her that might bug you, but know that she will see them in you as well and just remember what is really important: your friendship!
By the way, JeNelle - are you new to GC? If so, welcome! Do you go to CSULB? |
hey sista!!!
ok..i know you know who this is.........and just a little advice...before i joined a-phi at st.marys...i lived with my best friend who was currently a phi....and thats one of the reasons i joined...but after she moved off campus...i moved in with another sister....and it was great.....sure it has its bad days..but yall are sisters and you souldnt hate each other forever...cause there is no need to be mad forever cause whatever happened...happened in the past and if you didnt get hurt physcially and you can get over it..there is no need to carry on a bad relationship.....but that is what is so wonderful about sisters...you can get mad...but yall eventually get over it....so i say....DO IT!!!...it is a once in a lifetime situation....oh yeah...and currently i am living with one of my pledge sisters from iota beta..and it has been great so far....so ..thats my input....have a nice day.........and hope to see you soon!!!!!!!!!...............melly
