transferring chapters
has anyone done this and was your exp a positive one or a negative one?
|
i personally haven't done so, but i did have a sister transfer to another chapter - she ended up not being active in it, because they were so different from our chapter, she just couldn't fit in. however, i do know others that have transferred and everything has worked out wonderfully. i think it all depends on how you handle yourself and how easy you and the chapter make your transition.

Mine was very positive and I haven't regretted it one bit.
BTW, I do beleive there is another thread on this topic (a fairly recent one) that had quite a bit of responses. You should be able to do a search for it. Good Luck! |

I think SmartBlondeGPhB was refferring to this thread:http://forums.greekchat.com/gcforums...threadid=36678
Which I happend to start, because I am transferring as well in the Fall. I am nervous about it, but folks on GC have been reassuring that it will be ok, even though there were some people who had bad experiences. I think the important part is knowing what you are getting into and deciding how much you want to be involved with the new chapter. Luckily I know quite a bit about my new chapter and want to be involved as much as I can, so the girls have been REALLY receptive to my attitude. Good luck, if you are transferring! |
I was a transfer, and feel more at home in my new chapter than I ever did at my orig. chapter. Yeha, I missed out on a lot of local traditions, (i.e. big brother stuff and pre-initiation bonding) but I feel this is the chapter I always was ment to be in. I was only at my other school 2 semesters and the rest of college was at my current chapter.
You'll still always have that outsider thing tho. I have been 4 different officers and a re-founding father, yet my name will never appear on this chapters membership records of initiation. I hate that. Oh well. Nuthin I can do. |
