Ideas for Greek involvement on campus

we're a relatively small commuter campus
we need ideas to get our campus involved in greek life
and get the greeks to actually participate in their campus activities rather than sign up and not do anything

Something that has been pretty succesful in the past for our school has been having an all-Greek casino night. You can rent everything from blackjack tables to roulette wheels for a reasonable cost. Have the thing "hosted" by the Greeks. Each organization is requirred to send say 10 or so members to work the tables, set up, clean up, etc. or face a fine. You can make t-shirts, hire some live local bands, even get the community involved by seeing if they'd be willing to donate food or products. If you do this well and promote the shit out of it, it can be something everyone can look forward to each year.

Also, something that's a bit easier might be to sponser a "Medic-Ball Tournament." (If you're nto sure what medic ball is, PM me for the rules... it's basically like extreme dodge ball, it's like an obession here this summer!) Have each organization make teams of say 20-30 members and have a tourney in your gym. Promote the hell out of it and encourage none Greeks to come watch and vote on who they think will win. Those w/ correct votes are placed in a raffle for some prizes. This can be a TON of fun and easy to plan.

Basically, anything that offers prizes people will show up to. Find ways to get businesses to donate whatever they can to help your cause.

Hope this helps.

My Alpha Phi Omega chapter hosted a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for charity every year. The other Greeks really got into it. Some Greeks (and non-Greeks) actually played, but the best part was the enthusiastic cheering sections.

It was easy to organize, too!

you are at F & M right?? I know it's an odd situation there in that it's totally off campus and all student-driven. did you go through NPC when you colonized?? I know you are not NPC nationally but you can be locally...

i am at f&m. we aren't NPC locally either...there were some complications with that...but it is hard to get involved with the other greek life especially since we are new. i'm looking forward to this upcoming year and getting on better terms with the other greek life...but i was wondering if there were any suggestions as to how we could do that.
