www.alphaphionline.com

I was curious as to how a chapter can get a website onwww.alphaphionline.com because there isn't any contact information on that first page. Whoever does the sites does a super job, and I'm pretty sure this costs money to host on there...but does anyone know? Are there any Alpha Phi's with sites on there already (there are a few)? I think Alpha Phi should give every chapter free web hosting... hehe...of course that is just my wishful thinking.

If you're looking for free hosting for your chapter, my advice is to go through your school server. It's free, and usually has lots of webspace, and is usually reliable. Sites like geocities limit your transfer amount, so if someone (God forbid) clicks on more than 3 links on your site, it's down for an hour.

www.alphaphionline.com is owned and operated by none other than TechAPhi. If you are interested in having her create and host a site for your chapter you can PM her or send her an email through GC.

Well holy cow I didn't know that. Thanks! Yea we had free webspace at San Fran State...but the people who ran all the computing stuff A) hated all sororities and B) hated our Alpha Phi chapter worst of all (cuz we are national "white girls"...bunch of BS) so they would never help me. Anyway thanks for the info guys!

Hello! Sorry it's taken a while for me to reply -- I must have missed this post. I was checking my webstats today and noticed a ton of hits coming from this thread.

Anyway, I do own that domain. I host a number of chapter sites on it, including Iota Beta (St. Mary's) and Iota Iota (George Washington).

AstroPhi is right, most universities offer free web hosting to registered student organizations, so that is one option for you to consider. Sometimes the setup can be tricky, but once you're online you should have no problem. The first Alpha Phi site I ever designed was hosted on Texas Tech's servers for many years (ttu.edu). Then we got a custom domain.

The problem I always had with ttu.edu was that only students are allowed access to the server. I am an alum, so I always had to find a work-around.

I could go on and on, but I won't unless you need more info.

If you are still interested in alphaphionline.com send me an e-mail. Or if you just need web advice, I can probably help.

Techaphi:

It's funny I was the creator of our for a couple of years and eventually gave up on it. UNCW was super strict and to get an update through it , you had to go through practically every department on campus for approval. How do you create your own domain and upload yourself?

Heather!!! its Cassie

how is the UNCW website anyways? everytime i would try to go to it, it would be down

p.s. - TechAPhi, awesome site! :)
