wow!
The coolest thing happened this weekend...I was shopping downtown and a girl with an ADPi shirt was walking down the street, and when i noticed, i gave her the sign. she smiled really big and waved! ok, so that was the highlight of my weekend...how awesome is that? has anyone else gotten to do that yet? yea i know it's kinda corny, but i was so excited!

Ok, I'm really confused as to what "sign" you gave her???

PM her :)
I agree, it's very exciting when initiated sisters recognize you with signs and symbols! Without "revealing" anything, perhaps we can all share stories of how we have met sisters from other chapters. One of my favorite stories is about an older lady in our alumnae association in LA. She had a very close friend--- they were neighbors for years, raised their kids together, etc., and they never once suspected.... until one day, one of the women came outside wearing an ADPi sweatshirt and her neighbor gasped, "I'm an ADPi, too!" I was driving in Orlando one day and someone must have noticed the ADPi sticker on my car, b/c all of a sudden a lady pulled up alongside me in an SUV and was honking and waving like crazy, and then gave me our recognition sign! :) A local UCF tradition, too, is to honk three times whenever you see another ADPi sister. |
adepiash, it's the sign of recognition that we were shown at initiation. do you remember what that was? that's strange, b/c a friend of mine who was an adpi at smsu was confused too when i was asking her about it. maybe they didn't show you guys? hmmm...

I have yet to randomly meet an adpi in real life, but thanks to being my chapter's webmistress, I have met a lot of alumnae through email. This is always interesting, since a lot of my chapter's alumnae disapear after they graduate. Thanks to the website a lot of them are remembering how adpi is life long. I even have been sent pictures of quadruplets that one of our alumnae had. So so cute.

I was in the elevator at the WTC (again, with Jim) when I noticed that the other woman had a recognition pin on her lapel. I made a subtle sign, to which she smiled and nodded. There were only the two couples; if she had made a responding sign, we would have been busted! |
I'm slightly confused as to what sign you're all talking about too... somebody PM me and clue me in?

hi y'all. while on spring break, i got to meet a sister from the college of charleston, and got to see their chapter house, which is old and beautiful, and worth mentioning is the gorgeous stained glass window of our clasped hands which is above their front door.
this september, hbadpi are driving cross country to cali where she's starting grad school, and hopefully we'll get to meet some sisters along the way.... most notably, sluadpi, if everything works out! hey sluadpi! :D |
