parents day

Does anyone else find that their chapter has issues with parents day? My guys fight me tooth and nail every year about it. Last year we had two sets of parents show up, because everyone told their families not to come. None of them want their parents to see where they live, or meet their brothers- they all claim their parents are socially inept/white trash/racist/bigoted/etc, any excuse not to invite them. I know we have at least one guy who hasn't told his parents he's in a fraternity, and I can see why he wouldn't want them to show up, but I've met everyone else's parents, and they were all very nice to me.

Why is nothing ever simple?

Wonder why they think this way??

Do they think that the Group isnt Tighty Whity that it is wrong?

Damn, do these brothers (?) think that all F/S are white or black/asian?

Damn, tell your Group to get with it!

You and the rest of the Org. would not have Assoc. members if you did not like them and think they did a fit in with you!

YOU Are The Ones Who Live with The People not Your Parents!

Sorry, Parents are so Sad! But, THEY can be so understanding when they find out the real deal!:D

Parents can be understanding especially when they meet al of People!i:cool:

That's such a shame... I wonder if it's like that with a lot of fraternities, because it doesn't seem like a problem within sororities, especially my chapter. I organized an alum/parent brunch last semester and we had soo many parents and other family members come! It seemed like everyone was supportive of their daughter/niece/cousin and her sorority. And of course our girls weren't *embarassed* to have them come...I mean all parents are embarassing to a degree, but it's nothing to be THAT uptight about. I would always want my families support in anything I did.

I hope they come around, parents and family are a huge asset to any organization because they offer more networking and possibly monetary contributions.

I don't know, Parents' Weekend brunches are very popular for all of our fraternities and sororities.
