Our Black Sisters on The Maury Povich Show

Greetings Sorors,
This is something that has been bothering me for a while. This morning I was watching the Maury Povich Show and there was this black woman on there trying to determine who was the father of her 3 year old daughter. The guy had claimed the baby as his and provided for her mentally as well as financially. He found out that she was on the show four times before and she had brought 6 different guys on there to determined who fathered her 2 year old daughter. All of the paternity tests were negative. Even the guy that was provided for her 3 year old daughter was not his.
What I want to know is this.. why do we go on these talk shows and get upset and run off the stage crying when we get the tests results back? It was just a shock to me when our strong black women sleep with so many men and then turn around and call us every name in the book. Comments Please!!!!

I dunno.....

I don't know why. I kinda stopped watching the Maury Povich show. One show he had gay transvestite midgets (no offense) and you had to guess who was really a female. I saw that as a lame attempt to get people to watch. But, it could be like the Jerry Springer or Jenny Jones show where people are 'hired' to be surprise guests. Maury probabaly had her on for ratings.

I think these shows have degenerated into the modern day travelling freak shows of the past.

OK I couldn't let this one go. I just saw that same episode this morning....What a way to wake up, huh.

Anyway, that lady there was nothing compared to the lady who had all these guys come to the show(I think the amount of guys that came was in the double digit range) and NONE of them were the father. Mind you, she came before to find out who was the father of her first child and still didn't find him. At first, with every guy that comes, she is SO SO sure that that person is the fahter and of course they end up not being the father. Thus this maked her look very bad on TV. These things should be handled personally with these people. I think it is very sad to see women do this to themselves. As long as you are able to bring that child into this world and raise them right, they will be OK. No child should go through this. I do think a child should have a fatherm but a father that will love them, not deny them or resent them because they got caught out there.

<sigh>

these kind of "who's my baby's father" shows really irk me for several reasons.
1: if you have to come to a show to designate the father of a child you carried in your own body, then by default, something is lacking. that is something you should know and if the other party is disputing you about paternity, why go on NATIONAL T.V. with it?
2: there is always the chick who "ain't been with nobody else" and knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's this man's child... only to have maury read minutes later, "he is NOT the father". don't make yourself look bad. if you were out there doin' the do, don't let man #6 and #7 come on to be tested, only to find out that they aren't the baby's father either.

the saddest part of it all is that most of these women are attractive, young women who should have more going for themselves than a man and a baby. that really bothers me. further, it makes minorities look like trash, quite frankly. the victim in all of this: the child in question.

Total agreement. I saw the show the first poster was talking. I cannot stand it when they go off on the "father" then find out two minutes later that the baby is not his. Then the mother runs back stage and starts crying. You knew that there was a chance that the baby is not his, why are you crying?

Folks,

All of those shows need to just go off the air because they just reinforce that ignorant stereotype that African American and Latino women have a bunch of children out-of-wedlock and don't have a clue about birth control. I get sick and tired of hearing about such ignorant-ghetto-bama- _______ you fill-in-the-blank.

Besides Oprah and Montell...

Aren't all of those shows pretty much the same these days? They show all kinds of stupidity and silliness just for ratings. But Maury irks me to no end because he regularly has "You're my baby's daddy!", bootcamp, and "Man/Woman" shows. Is it really worth the ratings to "help" :rolleyes: these young ladies find the father if you're getting up to 8, 9, and 10 potential fathers? In essence, they're not truly helping because I think there are more instances of "you're NOT the father" than anything. Plus, the mother's image is beyond repair.

Speaking of the mother, I know that after having the misfortune of watching Maury, I look at those mothers as any derogatory sexual name you can think of. If you're testing 3,7, or more men, then that means you slept with those men in the same period of time that the conception happened in. How nasty! :mad: So when you are exposed for what your sexual patterns define you as, don't run off stage. We've already seen your face, so is there really a point?
