I don't know if I can handle this..

Tonight I can the news from my mom that my oldest sister just got out of surgery...I asked why she was having surgery...she informed me it was for BREAST CANCER, fucking breast cancer!!!
Dammit, I mean, my other older sister just had an operation 2 DAMN DAYS AGO for CERVIC CANCER! Kelli is only like 34, and Kristi is 31.

Why the hell did my mom and dad keep this from me?? I'm just kinda broke up about this. I almost lost both of my parent's back in high school..and now I have to the chance to lose 2 out of 4 sisters???

I can't handle this.

This type of thread is always painful to read. All I can say, is that my heart goes out to you and your family.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what sort of stress that puts on a young person like you. Maybe that's why they kept it from you? At any rate, if you need anything let us all know. We're here for you!

I'm so sorry to hear about what your sisters are going through. Hope all turns out well in the end. However you should find out why it was kept from you http://superbabies.homestead.com/files/sad2.gif

Oh sweetie, maybe I have an idea why they didn't tell you...

Honey, they love you so much, and they knew how THEY were feeling and could not bring themselves to put this heavy load on your shoulders. There is no other word that affects us like "cancer". It is the most dreaded word I can think of. In their hearts, they probably were thinking, let's see how everything goes before we tell her. There was nothing you could have done in their minds and I am CERTAIN it was a difficult decision-one they second guessed right up to the point of surgery.

Please don't be too hard on them, yes this is your sister, but remember, she is their child.

You really need to get an opinion on a frequent checkup schedule. My dearest, DEAREST friend died at 36 from Hodgkins...her sister had passed only a year before. Now, the one surviving sister gets checked every 4 months.

Oh hun...I'm really sorry to hear about your sisters. This must be super painful for you....while I can't even imagine how much you must be hurting, if you need anyone to talk to, I'm always here.

You can handle this. Hopefully they caught your sister's cancer early; if they did, she will be OK. My mom had cervical cancer, so I know exactly how you feel...it's totally scary. Not being told what was up would bother me, too, but I think justamom has it right, they probably didn't tell you out of concern for you and not wanting you to worry. It will be all right in the end, I'm sure, even though it may not seem that way right now. :(

I'm so sorry you're going through this. :(

Take care.

you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. to echo others, they probably didn't want to make it harder on you and didn't tell you out of love. make sure you are fine and hold your family tight.
