Bad news!

I am sorry to say that I will not be rushing anymore!!

I had a really bad situation that happened with my summer class. I was extremely stressed out because I didn't think I was going to be able to finish all the projects in time. Luckily, my professor will be handing out Incompletes and we have until May 2004 to complete the projects. Therefore, I am counting this class as an addition to my full fall schedule of classes. I know that being in a sorority takes a great deal of time, especially your first semester. My grades are not where I would like them to be, and with a heavy course load this fall- I am afraid that my grades would do a turn for the worst if I add in pledging (if I were to get a bid). I know I have talked to a few of you about my situation, and hopefully the rest of you will understand.

I have been wanting to join a sorority since I was a freshman and it just never really worked out. It is pretty sad this is happening, but I am a senior and taking a full course load of upper level classes. I would prefer to focus on my classes, and bring up my GPA was much as possible.

There is always the option of rushing in the spring- but I dont know how good that would do since I would be graduating that same semester.

Thank you all for your support and advice, it really makes me sadder than you would ever know that I wont be going through rush.

On the bright side, I am excited to hear about everyone else's rush stories!!

I'm sorry to hear that you're not going to be going through recruitment, but your classes are definately way more important-- after all, that's why you're in college, right? ;) Best of luck with your classes this year :)
And hey, you can always live vicariously through GC, and there's always alumna initiation if you're up to it :)

Sorry to hear that!! Like AlphaXi said, you've got to put your classes first. You could still try to rush in the Spring or go for an alumna initiation!! Good luck!

Hi bucutie02,

Ditto what AX4983 said about grades etc. If you are going to be carrying heavy course loads for awhile you may want to consider AI like I did. :D (requirements about college and other factors vary by GLO) -- Good Luck!:)

As someone who knows how hard classes and managing time can be, I totally understand where your coming from and we all fully support your decision. As the others said there's always alumni initiation!! Its very responsible of you to focus on grades and not try too much. You are being fair not only to yourself but to a sorority that you wouldn't give all your time to because I'm sure you'd give 150%! Good luck with everything!!!:)

I am so sad!

I just sent you a PM...before knowing that you had posted this. Disregard that PM :(

I am sorry that summer school didn't work out. What class was that?

Maybe you can do alumni initiation. My collegiate chapter usually did the initiation for the alum initiates in Houston so I know that they have people that do alumni initiation!

Good luck with school.

AWWW I am so sorry to hear that. I know that school can be rough but hopefully you can get those grades up and go ahead and rush another time.

Nichole

http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/sad/suru.gif I am so sorry. For what it's worth-everything I know of you and have seen on GC, I would have been proud to call you sister. I wish you nothing but the best from the bottom of my heart!

pinkyphimu 08-01-2003 02:43 PM

although that totally stinks that you won't be able to rush, you have to put school work first! i definately wish you the best!!! when you graduate, we will be looking forward to your alum initiation thread ;) !!

i echo everyone else. school has got to be a top priority. there are other ways to get involved. i applaud your maturity.

OK!!!!! We will work on the LEAGUE when you are ready!!!
Houston has a Junior Women Club that is like the league as well!!! There are tons of avenues for you. Are you planning to STAY in Houston?

Thank you all for your kind comments!!!! I still have the spring for what it is worth! I do not know how they would feel accepting someone who would be graduating that semester. I would need to email some of the girls and see what their take on that would be.

Jill1228 08-02-2003 05:43 PM

That stinks! :(
I will keep my fingers crossed for the spring :)

I didn't find sisterhood until grad school. Don't give up!
