Check Out the new Jet!
The issue has a picture from Boule of Soror Norma White and a couple of the newly inducted Honorary Sorors. I thought this would interest a few! (p. 30)
ALSO, there is a picture of a PREGNANT Nia Long. |
hey sistafriends...
is nia long pregnant? who is it's? she is a member of your sorority? |
I've heard conflicting reports on when she is due. Some say October and others say November. I don't know the name of the baby's father, but he is her boyfriend. She mentioned him in a recent Essence article a few months ago, but would not divulge his name. No, she is not a member of AKA.

She has a big, fat ROCK on her finger....
The caption under the photo says she was 5 months... |
I've always wondered (and I know this is very shallow of me) if celeb women who marry non famous (and not so wealthy) men purchase their own rings. I don't know what Nia's man does (I vaguely remember from the Essence article he was a businessman of some type), but could he afford a HUGE rock (I'm talking Kobe's fiance' $10,000 worth of rock)? Totally off the subject Ladies, (maybe I should start a new thread) but if you made a LOT more that your fiance, would you purchase the ring you wanted and could afford for him to give to you, or would you accept what he could give you?

Hey Ladies of AKA and SFs:
Good observation Eclipse. She stated that he was a businessman, but she also stated that when they met he was in the Gucci(?) (I can't remember exactly) buying something for his sister. They also said she was driving his Porsche when she was doing the interview. I don't think the brother's broke at all. Additionally, the ring is a matter of financing and good credit. Very FEW men pay $15,000 cash (unless you make several million a year or at least a lot of moolah, or have saved up a loooooong time) in the first place. The reason I say this is because I JUST went to a wedding and the bride's ring was $10,000. This brother is literally your average Joe Schmoe (with good taste http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif) and has excellent credit. Yeah, he'll be paying a while, but it was worth it...I guess. I do think that some celebs may buy their own ring that they want, but then how does the husband to be "pay her back?" Check out Jada's. Will makes (I'm sure) a heck of a lot more than old boy and Nia's makes Jada's ring look small. So I wonder. Hmmmm...... [This message has been edited by DELTABRAT (edited August 03, 2000).] |
I'd wear his ring. I know people get hung up on how big a diamond is but, when I got my 1/2 carat almost six years ago I decided that I was never giving up that ring. The jeweler told us we could upgrade to a bigger stone at any time, but I decided that this was MY ring and if I ever got a bigger stone it would be in addition to this one. If I ever blew up and could buy a bigger ring I'd always hold on to this one to remind me of what used to be and where we came from.

Good point DELTABRAT. I guess I am of the mindset that you should finance your house, car and very little else (not to say that I don't have credit card bills though, cause I do!) When we got engaged my husband did the 3 months same as cash dealie, but I vetoed the idea of getting a jewerly store credit card so that I could get a bigger ring. We've discussed upgrading at some point, but I'm content and there is so much else we could do with the money (like buy furniture for my house!) Can't sit on a ring http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Yes ya'll I saw the pic of the Boule'! It was cute. I saw Nia too. She looked cute pregnant. Her hair was done and everything, I mean she looked cute. Hopefully I'll look that good pregnant one day. Plus he's a cutie, too. And the article labeled him as her fiancee'. Now did ya'll check out my future husband to be Sisqo on the cover? Did you read the article? He is soooo fine. *sigh* One day...
