goodness....i had to stare at the pic to even see the bottle. that is crazy....i was wondering who "we" included too. it sounds like it's his mom writing to say take it down....my goodness. i am sure its not the first time he drank underage too...i would bet money on it that it was not his first underage drink...
at least you were nice back...i would have been a lot meaner!! |
A way to avoid this in the future
I run websites w/ photos of people on them (a hospital and a DAR chapter). One of our SOPs is that in order to have a picture of someone on a website, they need to sign a "media release". Basically just saying, "yes, please put my photo up." This way, if anyone complains, bitches about "invasion of privacy" or whatever chickie-boo was barking about, you can turn your palms skyward and say, "Hey, the people gave me permission and that's that."
Plus, only the person(s) who signed it can have it taken down. I think the "we" in that nasty gram was actually "she". It isn't hard if you have a standardized form and I've found out that it solves a lot of problems before they start. In the case of the hospital website, it's literally a federal law that media releases must be confirmed before putting up photos. You were much nicer to chickie-boo than I would have been. The best I could have done was blow her off and block her email. Adrienne :D |

That is such BS!!! You couldn't go into the room the formal was in unless you let the hotel security check your ID. I didn't give him mine because I am under 21 - so there was no point. So, if the guy didn't have his ID checked it is only because he was under 21. But, we did have people checking IDs. I can't remember if they got braclets or marks - but the bartender inside didn't check IDs. That is how most clubs and bars work though - someone checks your ID at the door and then you use your "mark" to get drinks from the bartender. By the way she talks, she acts like she was there, Gez. I am sure he just passed it off with his long coat to go and buy his drink. It wasn't very hard because the poor woman was so swamped. I bought 2 beers for my date (who is 21). But most dates under 21 know not to walk around and flaunt they have a drink - but stupid frat guys think they aren't cool without a beer permantly attached to their hand. She might as well go ahead and straightout say: "Your sister forced my perfect angel to drink!" Please honey!! I wonder if she is even in college, because if not she has a RUDE awakening. |

Most guys generally don't care and like to have their face on a sorority website. It is good PR for their self image hahaha. The release form is a great idea, but there are so many dates. I would have to spend my entire party time getting signatures from drunk boys. Not only that, but I don't know who half these guys are (example guy in the picture), so I wouldn't know what signature went with what guy. We are going back to school in a week to get ready for recruitment. I'll pull my advisor aside and talk to her about it. Because of this one girl, I guess I just need to take all the pictures of boys off the website and stick to group pics of the girls. I guess that is probably what I should have done to begin with - so maybe it is my fault in a way. I just know that a lot of the girls love to have pictures with their date/boyfriend on there - and their dates/boyfriens don't mind it either. I hate that one bad apple has to mess up the whole bunch. |

Its a lovely photo. Couldn't you just crop off the bottom portion of the picture with the bottle in it, and leave the rest of it up?

What is so funny to me about this whole picture controversy is that I went to school for 13 years with the guy in question. His name is Gregory and we both grew up in D'Iberville, Mississippi. He will only be a junior in college this year, therefore making him 19 at the time of the formal.
I had actually noticed that picture on the USM website a few weeks ago and thought it was funny that one of the guys from home was on there. (the website is GREAT by the way :) ) Oh well, I've had my good laugh for the day :) ...and way to be nice to the psycho girl in the email, I'd have never held my cool... -Colleen Eta Eta |
