Rushing in the South

What exactly is the deal with rushing in the south at a Black school..if I may ask? For some reason it seems quite different than at other schools. But, I'm not completely sure. Is the process basically the same as found on http://panhellenic.tripod.com/FAQ.html? I'm trying to do all the research I can and would REALLY appreciate some responses.

What exactly are you asking?

I am from the south and EVERYONE handles things differently. My school conducted their rush one way, while another school in the same state conducted theirs in another manner, and so on. It varies from school to school, regardless of geographic region of how a rush will "take place".

It appears that AlwaysDivine is looking at information from the Panhellenic Council which governs the traditionally white sororities. Their process is different from those of the historically Black GLOs, no matter where the chapter is located (North, South, HBCU, PWCU, etc.) Hope that helps.

You hit the nail on the head Eclipse!!!

All chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha have (basically) the same process. We conduct our rush (VERY) MUCH differently than white greek letter organizations....pay no attention to their process because it is (usually) a week long activity in which the "Pledgee" goes from sorority to sorority in search of the one that they are most interested in. We conduct ourselves in a much different manner.

***Disclaimer***
Don't take everything to heart but I hope this will give you a general understanding of BGLOs.

Thank so much for the response...I thought that process dealt with white Greeek organizations. I will check out that website Anydaynow.

I DO appreciate your responses blu and candid. Don't worry, I'm NOT taking it all to heart as Anydaynow warned me of possibly incorrect info. I'm just trying to do as much research as I can. As I am sure you remember from the time when you were not yet a member - its hard to know what information I should find on my own, what I should wait to find out, what I should or should not ask, and a whole bunch more. If you have any tips that will aid in my personal research - please do let me know. Thanks again.
