New Thread about "Naming Names" during Recruitment Week

Ok, I can't scroll through 10 pages of replies anymore!

I think we've come to a consensus that in the interests of good taste, the PNM's will post the names of the sororities at their school so we know what chapters exist there and then they will assign themselves a theme (i.e. Hogwarts Houses, Luxury Cars, Types of Flowers, etc.) and in describing their recruitment experience, they will use this theme so the Greeks Chatters can get their vicarious thrills (wink)

I.E-- President's Theme (just a sample!)
Washington House: we may later learn this was Theta
Lincoln House: Tri-Sigma
Kennedy House: Pi Phi
(FYI these were random names that popped in my head)

You get the idea. The PNM won't "trick" us by changing the names (i.e. if ADPi is "Carter House" after Round 1, she won't call it "Johnson" the next day), and by the end of recruitment we will know the true identity of the final house they bid to. If at that time the PNM chooses, she will tell us which house was which in her theme naming so we can go back through and relive it... all over again. hee hee

So, if everyone likes that (cause personally, ABC, 1-2-3 really confuses ME, but I understand the need for doing this), how bout if you lovely ladies (PNMs) post your GC name, university, the sororities at your university, and your theme under this thread! :)

And if you HATE this idea, well, that's ok, too. I still LOVE everyone of you and I can't wait for our PNMs to go through Recruitment!

Greek Love,
me

I think I'll be doing colors

Here are the Greek Organizations at my school:

Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Gamma
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi

These organizations will be represented by eleven different colors!!

Please see my recruitment thread here

** edited to add: I think I would definitely get annoyed looking at numbers as well! **

That is a really, really good idea. I can't keep "ABC" "XYZ" and all that straight. :)

Ok, I'm calling dibs on Hogwarts houses!!
At Wichita State there are

Alpha Phi
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Gamma Phi Beta

I don't know of anyone at my school who's on GC, but I'll still try to keep it all positive and clean ;-)

Holy crap!!!! How many houses do you go to each day?? I thought narrowing down 8 sororities was hard, I couldn't do 20!!

I believe Penn State has a two-week recruitment. I have two friends who are PSU alum of ADPi and Tri-Sigma, and they said it's quite a "rush." :)

WOW!!!! Okay, I edited to make a little joke - but how are you going to keep track? I'd have to keep some kind of journal to write what I thought of each sorority at the end of the day to make sure I could remember them all. I guess if you have your 4 or 5 favorites out of that 20 though, you won't need to write down things to remember them.

That reminds me - we have recruitment before school starts, so all the PNM have to live in dorms for the week. Well one day, a girl on my hall and I felt kind of guilty for not workout out in the past 3 days, so we decided to go run the stairs in the stairwell. I guess some girl was actually keeping a notebook as a journal, and for some reason left it open to the page where she was writing what she thought about all the sororities in the stairwell of all places.

So uhm, if you do keep a journal - make sure you don't leave it somewhere!!

What I'm going to do is write everything in a journal I'm going to carry in my pocketbook from dorm to dorm (Thank God that there are no sororities houses at Penn State!!) as well as type digital entries in my diary I have on my computer.

OK, I am still totally confused. That's 25 parties, and if there are 20 sororities .... ?

Heck, I'm just impressed with anyone who can make it through rush with that many chapters. I'd drop dead of trying to make any kind of rational decision!

I think there are 25 parties to make sure that EVERYONE makes it to each sorority. From what I've heard, rush usually starts out with 800 women and that if you make it to Second Rounds and you keep an open mind, you will get a bid to a sorority.

I agree!! I don't think that I would be able to make a decision!
