Info Nights

So what does everyone do for info night??? How long is it? Do you have refreshments. We are doing a slideshow thats 10 minutes long that has pics and music it came it really well. Like on a hige nin greek campus how do you get people to come besides putting up flyers everywhere and doing the word of mouth?

Our IFC gets together for a HUGE BBQ. All the guys on campus that are remotely interested come. They get free food and get to talk to the guys from all the houses. It's on Fraternity Court, so the houses are right there...they can take tours if they want and get more information about rush schedules for each house.

As far as PR and getting the word out, Greek Life is well represented at freshman orientation, so they get lot's of info out there...and at freshman move in, all the Greeks sport their "Go Greek" T-shirts and lug boxes up the stairs to help people out. It's always a really good way to show that we are out here helping people and not just the stereotype that some people hold.

We have open house night during rush...
IFC has all the fraternities give a small presentation then suite tours. There are no refreshments, unless its done by a particular chapter

We have a Greek Row block party during the prospective student weekend as well as interest tables set up during the freshman activities fair. All of the PX's split up the incoming women and send them all a personal letter and information packet (a luxury because we only have about 80 girls come in as freshman TOTAL with like 10 more transfers). Then, we post fliers everywhere and the girls and the guys both set up table in front of the cafeteria doors the two weeks before to take applications. It sometimes involves being verbal "hey!!!!! come sign up for recruitment!". My favorite recruitment table memory is when one fraternity was working the guys table (since there are no PX's the fraternities each take a turn manning the sign ups) and they had put up a sign that said "Sign up for RUSH" well, their president came by and told them they couldn't use that word and they needed to change the sign. They guys didn't have anymore poster board and the marker had bled through, so the next time I walked by the table the sign read :"Sign up for RUSHCRUITMENT", it was hilarious! it actually got them a little more attention (people not knowing what rushruitment was and all) and they got a new sign the next day.:)
