offended
 

i was posting a comment on another message board (not associated with greekchat)and i always use the same name....sigkap52...well someone made a comment that at his school and according to him at every school the sigma kappas are referred to as sigma cattle. i really took offense to this since there are some really beautiful girls who are sigma kappas. also i embrace the fact that we dont discriminate against girls based on weight or any other appearance type things. i just feel that often times these reputations that people create about certain sororities are unfair and mean. what do you all think? have you guys faced anything like this at your school?

people that so those things are close minded, they also don't understand that chapters vary from school to school. It's just like the stereotype for DZ (EZ DZ). Look for example at UGA have you seen the girls of epsilon epsilon(i think) They are all gorgeous and the same with Auburn, and not that it matters but I'm far from cattle I'm very tiny and i don't weigh very much at all. Every chapter is diverse with people from all walks of life that's what makes being sisters special, we accept each other for who we are.

Apparently a LONG time ago my chapter had been called that ... but it disapeared for a while ... as did my chapters popularity ... but around the time I pledged up untill now ... we are become one of the strongest chapters on my campus ... and the name is comming back ...

My take on it ... people are jealous and just look for things that sound like kappa and can come after sigma :shrugs: whatever

I think that it's pretty much been said. People get jealous, or catty, or just plain mean, and resort to that third grade name calling. I wouldn't take it personally at all. In the 80's, my chapter was called that as well, but the women are far from that image. We've all heard the nicknames (and I won't mention any, for us, or other people) and we all know that people just say it to be hurtful. For one person to generalize about all our chapters, especially in such a childish way, really just shows that they don't really know what they are talking about. If they did know any Sigma Kappa's, they would know we are wonderful, beautiful women. So HA!

All I gots ta say is that this fat girl right hea is loved by every sister that's met her AND has never been called sigma kattle or any other mean fat name. So nyah!! :p

On a serious note though, they're just jealous, so hate on hatas!!! :D

sigkap52 ... i was re-reading your post and i enjoyed how your "friend" there said that everywhere we are REFERED to by that ... lol I had one of my FRIENDS refere to my chapter as that and I almost knocked him out ... that guy on the message board may think we are refered to as sigma cattle ... but we sure as hell dont answer to it ;)
