Tell us how being a member of your sorority or fraternity got you the hook-up?

I got the hook-up when I went for a job interview and the hiring manager and another member of the interview team were Omegas. After the interview and everyone else had left, one of the bruhs turned to me and said "now that the interview is over can I get a hug from my Sister?" Then as I left, the other bruh whispered "welcome to XYZ, when can you start?"

I also got the hook-up when we took my daughter to college at an HBCU. As usual her paperwork was "lost" and they would not allow her to register. That was until the director of admissions saw that I was her soror and she personally got involved and "found" the paperwork.

So about a summer ago..I believe it was summer of 01..I drove my car into DC for a Dr. appointment after work. Now mind you, I never drive at all. I got a parking ticket. The ticket was for $100 :eek: because I parked close to a construction site, but didn't see any signs saying you couldn't park here. There were other cars there as well, so I thought it was ok.

Anyway, I forgot I had gotten that ticket until I got a letter in the mail a few weeks latter saying the ticket had doubled to $200:eek: :eek: There was no way for me to pay a $200 ticket. I went to the ajudication center (whateva it's called and had to see a judge. we were led into a room with this women judge. As I sat down, the judge went into her bag, a bag that looked just like mine, with DST all over it, and grabed some files. She saw me staring at her bag and smiled:D. I smiled back and said, I have a bag just like that;) . Needless to say, she heard my case ( I was innocent of all crimes:rolleyes: ) and dismissed my ticket! :D

I was in Atlanta last October visiting one of my line sisters. On the way home, I went to the airline counter and the guy taking the tickets noticed my DST T-shirt and mentioned he was a Que from the 1060's.

We talked for a little while and the next thing I knew, I was upgraded to first class and given 4 complimentary drink tickets.

That was my first time ever flying first class. Now whenever I go to ATL (which is often), I make sure I'm wearing some kind of para!

One of my sorors work in the legal department of a major oil company and she was able to 'hook up' our other soror with a job there. Not bad money at all. :D

I really in my heart believe that I passed high school math class because my mom and the teacher were both Deltas.

Too young in Alpha to have any hook-up stories yet.

I was returning from a three week trip in Jamaica flying into Miami airport it was a couple weeks after September 11th so lets just say security was darn tight anyway as i turned the corner to go through customs i was hit with lines going all the way back to the room. My thought was ohh God i am never getting out of here in time to catch my connection to Tallahassee, Florida.

So there i am worry all over my face when a custom officer called me out the line.. I was like ohh give me a break i been called out the line and randomly searched already. Anyway i stepped up to him and he said ..you a SGRho.. I was like yes i had a bag with my letters on it. He was like come with me. This brother took me up to the front of the line got me checked out ...got my luaggage and walk me over to the check in area (which was on the other side of the airport i would have never had found it) for my connection. He is a Que and he said when he saw my letters he had to help a sister out. Thanks Mike :). Really appreciated your kindness.

my aunt, bless her heart, sent out an APB to all sorors when i graduated to let them know i needed a job. a soror called me up and was like "i got a job. i know you're dedicated because you're a soror. if you want it, it's yours."

Me too! But here's an "I wanna have the hook up" story. . .

I work at a community college with 5 campuses. As of July 1st, all of the deans were rotated. Just yesterday, prior to reading this thread, I was talking with the new dean and told her that I was a little concerned that someone would think that she was always talking with me or asking information from me because we were both Black. She said "tell them it's not because we're Black, tell them it's because we're Alllpha Kappa Alllpha women!"

My LS is getting married next year. She's such a negotiator...her wedding dress was over $1000, but she's getting it for about $700 because the lady selling it was a soror. That's a HUGE hook up!
