Rho Chi's or Recruitment Counselors?

I know at my college, we recently had to change the name from "Rho Chi's" to "Recruitment Counselors" something about there being a pharamacutical honor society that is named "Rho Chi"...are all colleges doing this or is it just mine or the majority or what?

adpiucf 07-12-2003 10:17 PM

This is NPC-wide.

I could be wrong but I thought I saw something on a Ga. Tech website that said "Pi Chi's"... I think that's the same thing. I thought it was kind of a stupid name but hey, it looks like it must be "PC", lol!;)

At Ole Miss (university of mississippi) they have changed it to Gamma Chi's. I think there are other schools that use that name also.

There are many threads about this in the rush forum. If you do a serach, I'm sure you'll find them. The official replacement term that the NPC has suggested is "Sigma Rho Chis" (for Sorority Recruitment Counselors) but each school is allowed to come up with other variations, which explains why there are so many.

Sorry, to me they'll always be Rho Chis! :)

We changed it to recruitment counselors but they'll always be Rho Chis to us!

I duno why this organization put up such a stink. If I can recall there is the social Delta Phi Epsilon and the professional Delta Phi Epsilon, and I'm sure there are some others out there!

There probably are others, but from what I gather from reading various articles, the pharmacists believe they had the name first (since the whole RX thing orginally PX and then changed to RX, hence 'rho chi').
Its all semantics. But since they threatened to sue........
I don't think many people are going to change, but as long as the NPC said 'we made an effort' the PX GLO is going to have to go after each College Panhel individually, and I'm guessing that is going to be more money than it is worth.

Here at Mercer when I went through recruitment last year they were technically Recruitment Counselors, but everyone still called them Rho Chis. This coming fall the name has been changed to Pi Chi for "Panhellenic Counselors"

FAUNikki 07-13-2003 09:08 PM

At my school they have gone to calling them Rho Gammas. Same reason though, a group that uses the letters was offended or whatnot. I know that some schools call them Rho Gammas as well.

Our 'Rho Chi's' have become Rho Gamma's or Rho Gam's for short at University of Toledo

GMUBunny 07-14-2003 03:00 PM

Chalk up another one for Rho Gamma at GMU. I think Radford uses Rho Delta or something like that.

sueali 07-14-2003 03:48 PM

At UNLV we've changed it to sigma Rho Chi's

SigkapAlumWSU 07-14-2003 03:51 PM

At WSU they are Rho Gamma's, but everyone still calls them Rho Chi's.

texas*princess 07-14-2003 03:58 PM

Here they are officially Rho Gammas, but everyone still calls them Rho Chis :)
