? for DG Alumnae

Have you ever known of or organized an alumnae-only anchor splash? This has come up a few times now, and while it sounds fun I think it might be completely unrealistic.

Marie,
I've never heard of such a thing. It might be hard to get alumnae to participate in it, since people are not on campus everyday, the way you are as a collegian.

If you could do this who would you find to participate in the event? It wouldn't be fraternities would it?

I am neither a DG nor an alum, but maybe local civic groups could be involved instead of fraternities. You could have the Masons, Shriners, Elks, Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, and on and on. Many businesses or workpalces might form a team as well. I know when we did Big Brothers Big Sisters bowl-a-thons the intra competition was fierce but freindly.

But please make sure no one smacks anyone else in the head with a catfish :p

Pardon the intrusion, but I couldn't help noticing:

If a DG alum group was going to team up w/ any other civic org, I would assume the Lions Club would be on top of the list since both have aid to the blind/sight preservation as their philanthropy.

Just 2.5 cents worth...

we were thinking along the lines of a fun event, not a fundraiser but interesting suggestion about the Lion's Club....

adduncan, your intrusion is welcome anytime!

This sounds neat and maybe a fund raiser is not a bad idea!

LXA in many Schools do the Watermelon Bust, much like SX Derby Days!

PS, anything on PNAIM??:)

That is pretty cool about the Lion's club! I had no idea that they had the same philanthropy. Getting them involved could have truly amazing results, as the Lion's probably have a more widely known reputability than DG does. That would be really interesting to see happen!

Not speaking of as a Alpha Phi Alum for a moment but as a 20 yr member of a Masonic Youth group ( job's Daughters) and as a member of an adult masonic group( eastern star) i will tell you the masons and shriners love to do community projects and might be a good start in your planning in asking them

Just my 2 cents

Laura
