RIP Bailey

For quite some time my dog hasn't been doing very well...shes had congestive heart failure (which coincidentally is what my grandfather had..) and has been on medication and such..on sunday she started acting not well..was very lathargic..not eating or anything...my dad took her to the vet and they gave her medication to see if that would make her feel better..but it wasn't working so he took her back today, they gave her an iv to see if it was dehydration, but that didn't help either...we knew this was the end...my parents had had her put to sleep tonight...i am so incredibly sad right now, i don't know what else to say.. :(

RIP Bailey F. 1990-2003

xok85xo,

Sorry to hear about the loss of a loved family friend. It's hard to lose a pet, especially because they give unconditional love to their families. My condolences to you, it's a tough time.

*hugs*:(

So sorry about your loss...

As a total dog lover, I can understand your pain. Although it's not the same as losing a human family member, it is extremely painful nonetheless.

I remember in 2001 we lost my mother's dog (which I'd bought for her)--Ubu. My mother didn't cry at my grandfather's funeral, but I could hear the tears in her voice when she told me she had to put Ubu to sleep. I worked two hours away from my mother's city, but I told my boss I was taking the rest of the day off, loaded up my own dog in the car and headed to my home town to spend the day with my mom and grandmother.

Yes, losing a furry family member is nothing to minimize, and it's okay to be very sad. :(

Kate sorry about you dog. It is always sad to lose a pet. :(

Oh sweetie, I'm sooo sorry. I completely understand. Dogs (and all pets) are part of our families and it's so hard to see them go. I grew up the past 10-12 years w/ two great dogs, and unfortunately they both slipped away in a short amount of time of each other. Please let me know if there's anything I can do, or if you ever need to talk :(

Even though I know there aren't any words that could be enough right now, I'm really sorry to hear this...

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so, so sorry to hear about your dog. Pets are so much a part of your family that the pain is almost indistinguishable. I hope you can find solace in knowing that he's not in pain, and that there's another furry creature waiting for you to adopt him.

Now I am crying...:(

I am so sad to hear that your dog had to be put down. My parents had to put our pug down about a month ago or so...same basic scenario...

God Bless Bailey

i'm so sad for you. my thoughts and prayers are with you. a critter is as much a part of family as any.

Hootie 07-11-2003 12:51 AM

Hey sweetie!

You know I know what you're going through. :( I wish there was something I could say to alieviate the pain but there isn't much. It's too early to remember the good times and too late to change the past. Dogs (and other pets) play such a unique role in our lives and influence our happiness in so many ways. It's a sad, sad day when you have to say goodbye to your friend.

I hope that you will be able to grieve and talk with your family if you're having a hard time coping. I'm hear for you sweetie! Don't hesitate to give me a buzz if you need to talk or cry. At any rate, I hope you're able to get a good night's sleep.

Love in Chi Omega ~ Amy

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Our pets really are family members. My thoughts are with you; I know your heart is heavy. Bless you for caring about your animal friends.

I'm so sorry. :( I just lost my puppy this past year after 14 years and it is one of the worst things I have ever gone through. My thoughts are with you.

greeklawgirl 07-11-2003 11:24 AM

I am very, very sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to lose a loved member of the family. :(
