Elc?!?
 

i'm very interested in becoming an elc after i graduate. however, i heard a rumor that international doesn't like having elc's from small chapters, and my chapter is very small. we had an elc visit this semester who was from an even smaller chapter, so i thought maybe the rumor was false. does anyone have any suggestions on how to enhance my application so that it's not looked at as just being from a small chapter?

That sounds like a silly rumor to me! Your small chapter experience would be a huge asset to the ELC team--think about it, Alpha Phi has MANY small chapters and they have their own challenges which are different than the large chapters. So you can totally relate!

Yes, like a CA in CA said. Why would they not want someone from a small chapter? Smaller chapters are extremely different than large chapters. Having an ELC who understands the smaller chapters would be advantageous over someone coming from a larger chapter. If you really want to do it, go for it. I wish you the best!

Its not true that people are discounted for the type of chapter they came from! I have known ELC's from all sorts of chapters - and colonies/recently installed chapters.

Applications usally come out in late fall and are due right around when winter break is over.

Just curious -what chapter are you from?

I think it's definitely great to have ELCs from smaller chapters! Our last ELC visited in April and she was from a smaller chapter and she was a great source of information and she was able to understand what we were going through because she was from a similar chapter.
