Recommendations

I really want to get some recommendations, even though I'm starting a little late. Can anyone help me with this? I have no idea where to even start!
I need them for Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Phi Mu and Sigma Kappa!
In advance, thank you so much for any help you can give me!

My understanding of recs was that you know someone who is a member(graduated or not) of that particular GLO and then they write a rec to the specific chapter at your campus. I also think that local alumna panhellenic councils can write recs for people. It might be difficult to write a rec for someone who youve never even met. My best advice would be to ask your mom/relatives/friends who they know and start from there.

I've already asked my entire family and all of their friends. Trouble is, my mom went to an entirely non-Greek school and nobody else in my family even went to college, so they know NO Greeks.
I'm going to the dentist today and am going to ask all the ladies in the office!

Hi Sarah,

Check out the thread on the Alumni Involvement page:

Many GC members are either willing to write recs OR put you in touch with the local alum association, who will assist you with obtaining recs. Just make sure you tell them which campus you'llbe attending ;)

Good luck with the recruitment process. We love recruitment stories, so make sure you post yours :D

Do you necessarily need recs? The BGSU website mentions NOTHING about them, and their recruitment numbers on their website indicate that many woman (85% according to last year's numbers) get their first choice, which to me, doesn't seem as competitve. Maybe I'm wrong though :) But there's no sense in creating more stress on you if you don't need them!

Yeah, most people have told me that it doesn't really matter, but since I'm a 20 year old freshman, with a 2.3 GPA, I figure it really can't hurt. I've spoken to several individual members of their GLO's and the recruitment chair, and all agreed that my GPA won't even be a problem since it was from 3 years ago and my ACT score from this past December shows obvious improvement.
I'd just like to be on the safe side and get recs for whichever groups I can.

I still need to find someone from KKG!

Clean out your PM box, Sarah!! :)

bgsarah 07-08-2003 10:44 PM

cleaned!

although i'm sure recs are great to receive, i'm not going to lie, i'm very glad the greek community at my college doesn't make recs a requirement. i infact had never heard of them until recently.

MoxieGrrl 07-09-2003 01:45 PM

Sarah...girl, you have to quit getting so many darn PMs! Your box is full again. :)

Just your resume is fine. I thought a pic was part of the deal on these...like on modeling sheets.

My school didn't require recs. In four years of doing recruitment, I have never seen one. But I'm going to write a goodie! :D

bgsarah 07-09-2003 02:27 PM

hmm. so it is! I'll clean it out again and then pm you!

as for required recs, I don't think BG cares. I don't think it even mentions recs on the panhellenic website, and even the recruitment chair said that while it can't hurt ever, it doesn't matter.

But the way I look at it is this:
If BG doesn't require recs, then most of the girls probably won't have them.. but I will! So there!:D :D
