THere is usally a weekend of events but most people just go for the Saturday events. The NPHC of Philly does a good job of setting up a whole weekend of events.

"MTV's "Puffy's" Making the Band" Tomorrow July 9th Wednesday watch for the Step Correct Promo for the Philly Greek Picnic!

In these areas and times:

Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn :between 9p and 10p.

Maryland and DC: between 9:30p and 10:30p

Philly between: 10p and 11p

I went last year also. I was in Philly for a few days, but only went to the Saturday events for the greekfest. There are unofficial events going on also that you might want to check out while you're there.
