Inactive Phi Sig Chapters
Ok, So I was wondering... How would I go about finding information about a former chapter of Phi Sig? There is a chapter that I am curious about, but I cannot find any info about where they went, they practically disappeared... Anywho.. If anyone knows where I could go about finding this, it would be great!

You can contact central office to see who the DCP or RCP is for that area or just contact CO for information about that specific chapter. You can also talk to your advisor to see if she has any information about that chapter.

I have *some* information as well, ie when they closed, etc. but i dont have the "why" part, and I dont think CO or a DCP would have it on official record either. usually they try to keep those things kind of under wraps.
PM me if you want the info i have. |
i'm trying to find out some 'whys' too but it's kind of hard
it means researching the college newspapers and that takes days |
Which Chapter are you wondering about, I know why UF closed...Hey Nicole lol

I'm curious why Berkely and UCLA closed...they were two of our older chapters..... I'd LOVE to work on re opening UCLA... since I want to go there for Law schoo (if I get in)l I'd love to be an advisor for the chapter.

HI There,
I can't remember if this was USC or UCLA but from what i heard about one of those chapters is this: during the whole anti-establishment era being in a fraternal organization was too establishment. Supposedly the school essentially said to shut down all the greeks. Phi Sigma Sigma followed the rules and closed the chapter completely. When Greeks were finally acceptable again and we're going to be allowed back on campus it turns out some of the other groups just went underground. Since they were still there they had the first shot at coming back. Carolyn |
Interesting.... sounds like what happened at my schoo... except Phi Sig survived the come back stage and now have been back on campus since 1981... I think we got kicked off in the 60's

I've taken on the project of trying to track down the founders of my chapter all I have are old composites with first and last names. I have no graduation dates or anything. For all I know they could have all moved out of the state or have gotten married and have new last names... Does anyone know what I should do? I don't know if I should call C.O. I feel like I'd be wasting their time.. but I want to surprise my chapter with the info so that we can have really special alunmi reunion. I really don't know what to do.
