"After a While"
I just wanted to share this poem with everyone entitled "After a While"
After a while, you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning And company doesn't mean security And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts And presents aren't promises And you begin to accept your defeats, with your head up and your eyes open With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child Learn to build all your roads today, because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in midflight After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much So plant your own gardens and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers And learn that you really can endure.... That you are really strong And you really do have worth And you learn and learn....with every goodbye, you learn. I ran across this poem and decided to post. You never know what is going on in another person's life. Maybe someone needed to read this...who knows. "If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living will not be in vain." This poem is great. I just broke up with my boyfriend, so I am really feeling it.

I am actually a public speaker and a few years back I did a speech for a women's organization that I am apart of and I gave each woman a copy of this poem, I got it off the Iyanla Vanzant website. I absolutely LOVE it!!:)
