Boarding House: North Shore
 

OK I've never actually seen surfing but I'm addicted to this reality show. Surfing looks awesome. The girls are soooo frigging hot. Geez I need to learn how to surf.

I've been watching it too. It makes me want to go out to the country more often. The North Shore's only 45 minutes away, but I haven't been there in months.

A lot of people are bitching about how Sunny Garcia's too aggressive and too much of an azzhole, but you know who what? He's too much of a legend for anyone to really care.

I'd much rather watch this show than that "SURF GIRLS" crap on MTV/ :rolleyes:

I love this show.

I love this show, too. The people are actually doing something entertaining where there's not so much drama. (Oh, there's drama, but it's more competitive because they are all surfers than just regular bitching I think. I dunno.)

I've never surfed, but when I was in like jr. high my family took a vacation to FL. Of course, surfing isn't all that great in FL anyway, but I was fascinated by it. We were there like a week, and I live in Ohio, so it wasn't like I could buy a board and surf. But I think it looks awesome. One of those "things to do before I die" things.

How hard is surfing to pick up? And Garcia is awesome but I sorta feel like he should act differently because he has a kid.

I don't think it's hard to pick up at all! A good friend of mine from Texas/West Point learned how to surf last December, and already he's doing 6-8s. While he probably won't be ready for the monster winter swells on the North Shore, it wasn't that hard to learn.

I can't remember how it was for me to learn. My dad threw me on my first board at 5 and I know I hated it, but I've been keeping at it all these years. It's just like riding a bike, you never really forget how.

Do people that surf work? Seriously, it sounds cool that they all party at night and surf during the day but who supports them?

You've got recreational surfers like me and then you have professional surfers like Sunny, Myles, Danny, and the rest of the people on Boarding House. A person turns pro once they're picked up by a sponsor. Billabong, Quiksilver, Roxy, Da Hui, Vans...they're all a bunch of companies that sponsor surfers.

A bunch of them also have beach houses on the North Shore, and many of the pros stay there when they're in town. And they also throw phat parties there. Especially the Roxy House at Sunset Beach. Their parties are the best.

I figured the sponsorships and the tour prizes probably hooked them up. That's pretty hot.

Some of their parties are invite only, but usually people just hear about it by word of mouth. The Sunset Beach community's pretty tight, so everyone usually knows each other. Basically..if you don't cause trouble, you're allowed to stay.

I know of two guys sponsored by Billabong and instead of just surfing 7 days a week...they actually have real jobs. They do drywall 3 days a week. Weird.
