Stay or go?
 

I have the opportunity to go overseas to visit my boyfriend, but I can't decide whether it's a good idea or not. The good side is, I like travelling and I'm excited about seeing my boyfriend again (I haven't seen him since February)...but the bad side is, I don't get along with his mother, my whole family is against me going, I'll miss out on my old roommate's going away party (she's moving to Nebraska) and helping my old chapter with rush, and I'm petrified of flying on a plane by myself. I haven't flown alone overseas since I was 19 and I vowed I wouldn't. So...help!

yes, your old roommate is moving to a different state, but you can take her out to a nice lunch or dinner beforehand and explain why you won't be at her party. she knows you haven't seen your boyfriend in almost 6 months so she should understand.

you will have another opportunity to assist with rush i'm sure.

you may not get along with his mother over normal circumstances but these ar extenuating circumstances. i always get along better with people in extentuating circumstances.

the first and only time i've ever gone on a trip by flight i went by myself (i got dropped off at the airport by my big and had to figure everything out by myself). i know you may hate/are scared of flying by yourself to a foreign country, but won't seeing your boyfriend be worth it?

you're family may be against the trip, but it's not like they're going to disown you, right?

Its an experience that you might not get to repeat for some time.

Think of him as a good excuse to visit Ireland, which should be the main point of the visit. So make the boy show you around.

Figure you are probably going to stay hung up on the boy anyway, so why not use it your advantage?

As far as your parents. Just sell them the See-Ireland aspect as well as how CHEAP the trip will be for you.

As for his mom, well she is supposed to not like you. Most mom['s hate the GF, they just hide it REALLY well.

Oh and your chapter won't suddenly fold cause you are not there.

so go! you will regret it later if you don't.....and i'm sure there's stuff to be done before recruitment if you are concerned with not helping out when the time comes.....but def go. flying is a b*tch, esp alone.....but you can sleep and drink and all is well before you know it! :)

as far as his mama....she'll get over it. just be nice and courteous and eventually, she'll realize she's not being fair.
