Beginning Day
I would love to hear from some of the more experienced gals. What are your Beginning Day celebrations like? We will be having our very first this year, and I would love to hear what kinds of traditions are out there.

What is Beginning Day? I've seen pictures of celebrations on many Beta websites, but cannot figure it out.

Beginning Day is the first day of our sorority year. Traditionally it is the last Sunday in August, but different chapters will hold their celebrations on different days. If you have "secret sisters" in your chapter, this is usually a mandatory present day.
Our chapter does something different every year. This year we're planning on having a pajama party at one sisters house. Her husband and kids will be staying elsewhere that night and it'll be just us girls. :) We plan on snacking and staying up all night- just like when we were kids, lol. I think it'll be a ton of fun! This August will be my 1st Beginning Day w/Beta and hopefully we find out what is planned at our next meeting on 7/8.:)

This will be my first Beginning day too. Oh yes, I just got my bracelet and membership card! http://www.spacespider.net/emo/clap.gif
Right now I am working on the yearbook for my chapter |
For the past 4 years(our chapter is 5 years old)...we have had Beginning Day at one of the local Tea Rooms. We get dressed up and enjoy each other and all the lovely things around us. Most of us with young kids at home running around don't usually get to patron these establishments otherwise. We really enjoy it.:)

Beginning Day
Hi,
I'm a 36 year member of BSP and have seen many Beginning Days over the years!! A "regular" chapter typically does not meet in the summer--usually only individual committees and maybe a few socials so on Beginning Day sisters are glad to see each other again and the sorority year begins fresh and new! Chapters I have been in over the years usually have a short meeting to hand out new yearbooks and hear reports from committees about the new year ahead of us. Then we have a social. Sometimes a hamburger cook out with the husbands gathered around the grill while sisters are having our short meeting. Sometimes just the girls gather for the short meeting and have social time after. Its always fun to look at the new yearbook or new yearbook pages using the new theme. Its fun to hear the reports from the committees about what we will be doing in the next sorority year and its fun to hear what each sister has been doing over the summer months. Some chapters draw new secret sister names on Beginning Day and some reveal on Beginning Day. I hope you all have a super Beginning Day----and many more Beginning Days to come! Your Texas Sis, JudyK |
Wow! Thanks for all the great input!
I just spent some time talking to our new President, and I'm getting really excited for Delta Pi's second year. Erica |
Beginning Day
:) Our Beginning Day is the second week of September. We get our chapter yearbooks, secret sisters are revealed and we choose our new secret sisters for the new sorority year. We get together and have dinner.
Hope this helps. Sandi |
Hey Sandi,
Welcome to GC and the BSP forum.:D |
Thanks!
Thank you for the welcome! :)

I bummed b/c I learned that our (career) chapter doesn't do a Beginning Day at our meeting this past Tue (8/12). :(
Has anyone else planned or had their Beg Day or rush parties. I am excited about the friendship faire SCC is sponsoring Sunday 8/17. :D Michelle |
Hello ladies,
We had a very nice time at the Friendship Faire yesterday (8/17) with 14 guests in attendance. Most of the visitors were very interested and have been invited back to other events by one or more chapters (we have 15 active chapters in our council).:D Michelle |
