WHOA!
I posted a reply in the Greek Life area regarding sorority members who have competed and won beauty pageants. In 1984, Soror Suzette Charles took over as Miss America from Vanessa Williams after her scandal. In 1990, Soror Debbye Turner became Miss America and in 1991, Soror Marjorie Judith Vincent took the title!
That means not only did intelligent, beautiful black women win the title back to back, but members of Alpha Kappa Alpha won two years in a row! |

I always wondered, what chapters were these women initiated into or are so of them honorary members?
|
Suzette Charles is a honorary member |
Does anyone know what chapters Marjorie Vincent and Debbie Turner initiated into?
|
Last night, I read through our history book and Suzette Charles is the only one out of the three listed as an Honorary Member, a title given to her in 1984. As for which chapters the other two sorors were inititated into, I do not know. However, I remember that Marjorie Judith Vincent did attend Northwestern University. But I do not know whether she was initiated there or not.

I was just looking through our 1998 International Membership Directory and it has Debbye Turner listed as a honorary soror. It does not mention Soror Marjorie Judith Vincent.

Soror Vincent went to Duke University for grad school but she was already a Soror. I am assuming that she was initiated at Northwestern if this was her undergraduate school.
Our current Ms North Carolina ia a Soror who attends NC A&T, Alpha Phi Chapter. |
