Priceline & St. Louis??
I am going to a conference in St. Louis in July and need some info if you have it:
1) Anyone use Priceline for hotels? Did you have a good or bad experience? 2) Anyone know where to (or NOT to) stay in St. Louis? The conference is at the America's Center. I want to be safe, but would be willing to drive a few minutes (10 or so) in order to save money. Thanks for any advice/info you can give! |
Mr Munchkin's family is from STL, and occasionally we will get a hotel room the first night or two (because future in-laws can be a little stressful). I've always had good luck with Hotwire--you get a list of prices based on the hotel's ratings and location (downtown is an option, as is around the airport--about a 20 minute light rail ride downtown), and then you go with the price you want. They do tack on about $5 to the final charge.

Thanks - I'll check it out!
I just found out the hotel (Wyndham I think) they offer is $120 per night. I was hoping for less, but considering that I'd be right there at the center (and hubby and Eli can walk to the waterfront) that might be a deal. I was also told to avoid a certain area -- but I can't remember which....do you know if its the East/SouthEast side? |

You don't want to be in East St. L, it's true, but it's pretty hard to accidentally wind up there -- it's on the other side of the Mississippi from where you'll be. What you might want to keep an eye out for is north St. Louis -- it doesn't have a nice clean border like the east side does.
Basically the further west you go, the farther north you can safely go. Anywhere straight west and south of where you'll be is urban, but fairly safe. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you some tips on where to go to eat or shop if you have the time. :) Greekgrrl |
