Interesting things you do

This morning SmartBlondeGPhB and I hijacked a thread and I discovered that she scuba dives (and will be featured in the Crescent because of this!!!). What interesting or fun things do you do?

(I'm trying to get some more action in our forum, now that we seem to have a few more ladies on GC)

Yes, we did hijack that thread didn't we..........

I have been diving since 1998 and I do up here in the COLD water of Puget Sound (45 degrees). You can read more in the Crescent, I don't want to spill it all. I believe there will be an "oh so lovely" photo with it (from diving).

But, Kathleen it looks like the Crescents are going to be online with our new website so you might not have to steal one.

I just noticed that - it's fabulous. I think the Crescent will be something nice for parents of NMs to see. I brought one home for my parents and it made them a lot happy about "the sorority thing."

I think the most interesting thing I've done is thrown hammer and weight - a lot of women were surprised to see that "girls can throw those too." It was a fun experience, but ultimately, school took precedence over track, so I only competed for indoor season last year.

I really like...

...to do TV game shows! I was actually on the Family Feud when Richard Dawson was the host -- show aired on Jan 20, 1977 and i keep watching for re-runs of it on the Game Show network -- there were not many home VCRs at that time... then in college at Southern Cal, our sorority would go to Holly wood and try to get in the audience for a game show that was hosted by the Bert Convy and involved three celebrity couples each representing a color and they answered questions about each other a la the newlywed game -- this show though gave the winning money to the section of the audience whose color matched the winning couples color -- we did it as sort of a mini-fundraiser for the chapter -- and sometimes we just went to get money for ourselves! I alsowent with some sisters to the Price is Right and almost got called to COME ON DOWN!! They interview everyone in line waiting to go into the audience for the show and if you have the "right" personality, they jot your name on a list and theymay or may not get to you during that day's taping...sadly I did not get called...I also interviewed for the Dating Game and made it thru the second round -- if you got this far, that meant they would call you to schedule an appearance...sadly the show went off the air before I ever got called -- and I had the BEST question too -- here it is: "If Mark Spitz could win 7 gold medals in swimming, what could YOU win 7 gold medals in?!" (Hey it was the 1907's ok?!)
In 1994 I was on the Wheel Of Fortune (in uniform) and won Lovely Parting gifts -- in other words, I had my finger and thumb in the shape of a L on my forehead!!!!

Lately, a dear friend of mine (an Alpha Chi) and I have submitted a tape to get on The Amazing Race...Lord knows why they did not pick us --we'd make great TV! We are busy formulating our next try-out video right now -- we WILL get on that show!!!

Cele, were you on one of the college editions of the Feud? I saw one the other day that was USC v UCLA and I thought of you - it was all Greeks.

GPhiBLtColonel 07-07-2003 01:17 PM

Noooooo....

.....I was on before they even conceived of doing college editions! The air date was 20 Jan 1977 so it was taped in 1976!! OLD OLD OLD!!!

You aren't any older than my parents. ;) I am always really excited for Greek editions of shows like that - I watch too much TV during the day.

FYI Kathleen, I've been told the new Crescent's out now.........

I haven't been home yet to see if mine arrived, but Sandy Burba said she saw the article on my diving.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm heading past the Gamma Omega house to pick up a bridesmaid dress, so I'll have to grab a copy. :)
