Its a philanthropy event the aopi's at EKU do and each year we participate in it. This year we are starting exceptionally early!! Hey
Alpha Phi does a lipsync philanthropy at our school.. this past year for our performance we did "Summer Nights" from Grease. Im not sure if someone has done this before. They went all out and dressed the parts of the girls and guys. We also dressed in black capris, white tops, adn had pink scarfs around our necks. Another girl on her own performed as gwen from no doubt... another group did an early 90s song... forget what it was, but it was really funny when they were dressed up and stuff.. hhmm.. one more this was a fraternity though.. they danced to an 80s song and wore bright neon pink and green shorts.. dare shirts.. and had mullets.. that was really funny hope some of this helps.. I am just sitting here at work trying to remember... :) |
Hey,
we have a thing kind of like that on our campus in Indiana called songfest, and this year we did a 'footloose' theme that was really awesome. We did four different songs and dances that were all coreographed. let me know if you need any details!!! pi phi love |
Rock the Arrow!
At UCF our yearly event is Rock the Arrow and it's a karaoke and dance contest that benefits Arowmont. DU on our campus does a lip sync contest.
Here are some ideas: "Barbie Girl" by Aqua is fun because you can all dress in pink. "Mickey" is cute because you can dress like cheerleaders, other songs can be mixed into the routine to modernize. Britney Spears is fun because you can dress cute and make fun of her or steal her own moves in the dance. From what I've seen, for larger dance routines we usually have three parts to a routine: modern/booty dance, cheer, and artistic dance. What's great about this is that each group practices and is costumed to match the song they dance to; great for getting a lot of girls involved and letting girls showcase what they're best at. |
We have a lip sync contest every year for greek week and we have been somewhat successful. We usually come up with an overall theme and then find a number of songs that fit it. We have done radio stations before like with an "easy listening" channel, "hard rock," oldies, country, rap, pop. We just used the best song we could think of to represent each of these genres and put them all together. We found a radio tuning soundbite somewhere too and put it in between every music change. We have also done like "love through the years" with a love song that was popular in each decade, we did a "Greek love" theme and it looked like the story of one couple through their life time. We did "Candy girl" and some monkey bars song, and into Tiffany's "I think we're alone now," then "Going to the chapel", and love shack. Hope that helps you.
