DFW GC'ers -- toll tag?

I'm not sure if the "TollTag" is the same in all areas, so I'm mainly asking the DFW GC'ers that have more experience with the metroplex than I do..

I went in and around the metroplex on & off the tollways and noticed "TollTag" entrances by the Toll Booths... so I have a few questions...

1. What is the TollTag?

2. How much does it cost?

3. How long is it valid?

4. Have you tried it and is it worth it? Or would you rather just spend the 0.75, 0.45, etc. for the tolls?

Thanks I really appreciate it! :)

1. What is the TollTag?

TollTag lets you go through the tolls without stopping. Very nice.

2. How much does it cost?

I have the plan where I pre-pay $40. When my account gets low, they charge my credit card another $40. Very convenient.

3. How long is it valid?

Until you quit paying into your account.

4. Have you tried it and is it worth it? Or would you rather just spend the 0.75, 0.45, etc. for the tolls?

It is totally worth it if you live near or around any of the toll roads. It is so nice not to have to dig for change everytime I want to get on 190.

Plus it is fun to scare people in your car when you don't stop for the tolls & they don't know you have one. :D

a.k.a. EZPass to those in PA (and I think NY and NJ)

They have a smiliar thing in Orlando (I think it's called epass or sunpass or whatever). Anyway, it's incredibly convenient and I can't imagine why anyone who lived/drove in Orlando all the time wouldn't have it! :)

We have EZ Pass. It's great. You can zip right through the toll booth as other people are waiting to pay with cash. suckers! ;) Plus, you can get a discount here. One bridge is $4 cash or $3.50 with the EZPass. It is worth it. :)

EZPass is also honored on the Mass Pike.

A few years back, whoever runs the Mass Pike decided to introduce "FastLane" I think they called it. Trouble is, they did it in cooperation with a bank. Your choices were: open an account with that bank and they would debit your checking account (and they charged steep account fees); or buy a transponder (for like $50!) and either give them your credit card # for automatic debit or write checks as needed to replenish your account. No way was I doing either, so I was FastLane-less.

A couple of years after that, I spotted a sign at a toll booth on the Mass Pike that said "EZPass Accepted". So I got me an EZPass. ;)

and the FASTtrac for those in the Bay Area

I think I would get an EZPass if I drove the turnpike more. I only drive it one exit each way when I go to school. (for those of you in PGH, I go from Monroeville to Harmarville to avoid the Freeport Rd traffic (and cos I stop in Mo'ville for Starbucks!)

I would get it also if I lived in an area where using the turnpike or a toll road was unavoidable.
