What's the source of the article?

I actually preferred it when he was gone...

BOOOO on you Hoosier for a pathetic attempt at being cynical! Seeing how you have already posted this information before,
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ta+beta+hazing http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ta+beta+hazing I guess your angle was to post it again, this time with a "racial" title. How childish! What, slow day? Or is this your response to the Supreme Court's afrimative action decision? :p  |
Well technically this might be new, because I don't think I had heard about the lawsuit before.
I'd still like to know the source of the article. |

This came from our paper The Virginian-Pilot Woman sues Va. Union sorority over hazing incident A college student who said she suffered severe bruises after being struck with a paddle 35 times during ahazing incident is suing asorority and 14 of its members. Kimberly Daniels, a junior last year at Virginia Union University, filed suit against Zeta Phi Beta and the women, accusing the sisters of ‘‘outrageous, willful, wanton, reckless’’ actions. She is seeking $500,000 for pain, medical expenses and loss of earnings. In the suit, Daniels said the hazing took place four days after she was accepted into a pledge class in February. Her injuries required treatment at the emergency room, she claims. I know that Hoosier has posted before about it...But here is a source you can look into...The link is http://epilot.hamptonroads.com/Defau...=1056599934559 but unless you are a suscriber, you may not be able to pull it up. The paper's site is www.pilotonline.com. Any way you look at it, it looks like the truth to me! Hazing is hazing and they are being sued! *edited to add...I don't agree with the title to this thread....* Meredith |
Thanks, Meredith! I appreciate it.

The title of the thread is unfortunate, but also obviously a reply to the previous thread about hazing being a term for "white kids" or something like that. As I recall, though, the member who originated the later thread was quoting (?) an article which was part of the post. |

Have to make it sound bad...Cause us GLO's are the mean ones! Thanks DeltAlum for clearing up the thread title confusion for me!!! Meredith |

Anyway, I don't know VA law, but I suspect that the "outrageous, willful, wanton, reckless’’ allegations are probably just the elements of the hazing law that have to be plead in the complaint filed with the court for it to be considered a valid lawsuit.... just a guess, though. |
I am TIRED of seeing people on this board flame Hoosier. He is just posting the honest truth. If you don't like it, and want to pretend it doesn't occur, fine do that. The problem is that it does occur and very frequently. Next time you rip Hoosier, I expect to see what you are personally doing to stop hazing in your chapter and on your campus. If not, you have ZERO right to rip into Hoosier for posting the NEWS.
|
the honest truth plus his added $.02 (usually the thread title) which is always just enough to offend.
|
Hoosier's a good guy. Mailed me (at his expense) some very helpful materials once. I think many are reading too much into thread titles. They're just good headlines. You clicked on the thread, didn't you?
|
The headlines are obviously meant to be offensive. Maybe that's only to provoke people into reading the threads, but come on. Some of the thread titles are just unnecessary.
