PALMS, Do they organize your life?
 

At a student senate meeting I noticed that 6 people had some sort of PDA kaing notes and what not. Also in the caf I have noticed many people with palms. Do they really keep you organized or is it jut another trendy gadget??? I have debated getting one because Im pretty busy class officer duties, as well as with m fraternity and other school activities, but the price tag is a bit much. It worth the 200 bucks?

my parents got me one for graduation last year and i don't use it as much as i could. i keep certain reminders in there, birthdays, a reminder to pay my rent and days off from work as well as some phone numbers and addresses. but i mostly use it to play games. i could probably do without it, but it is nice to have it for when there is something i would like to remember later, i just put it in there.

At first it seems like a pain trying to learn all the shorthand and selecting the right functions and such but once you get the hang of it it's pretty useful. I don't use it as much as I use say, my cell phone, but when I don't have the phone on me it's nice to have.

I use mine all the time. I used to have a big Franklin planner, but I'm much happier with my little Palm. Mr RedRose got me a Tungsten for my birthday, so now I'm REALLY happy! :D

One of the most useful things on my palm is an awesome program called Vindigo. It's basically a restaurant guide, entertainment guide, and map program for nearly all major US (and many international) cities. I can't tell you how often I use it! I'll never forget the time we were in London, standing in the middle of Leicester Square, wondering where to eat. Out came my Palm, and within minutes we found just the type of restaurant we were looking for. It's about $25 a year, and you can get it here.

I have one. It is pretty useful for storing TONS of memos. When it comes to reminders I use my cell alarm. And, when it comes to dates I just use a regular calendar. I need to see scheduled events ahead of time, not the day of, which is the way it is formatted on palms.

I have the "ghetto" Palm - the m105. I think it's only about $100 now. I love it - keeps me organized with class, assignments, meetings, etc. I will sometimes take notes on it during class as well.

I really like not having multiple electronic devices, but I have heard good things about the Palms, and all similar devices.

I have one of the lower end palms and I hardly use it, because I need to see things in my calendar days and advance and you can't really do that with the palm. You can only see one day at a time so it doesn't do much good for me. Although I did use the soltaire a lot in class :cool:

Got myself a Handspring Visor - reconditioned, dirt-cheap and a good starter PDA. Added all kinds of gadgets to it, mainly a GPS receiver (picked the thing up on clearance at Wally World for about 40 bucks.) Also have the ThumBoard and the cell phone attachment.

Only drawback with the bottom-of-of the line models - they suck the life outta batteries like you wouldn't believe. The more expensive models do have rechargeable batteries.

I have a Sony Clie...high res color screen, lots of memory, etc. However, it still doesn't compete against SAI's Tungsten...I want I want!! I love it. I used to have a Visor but saved my money up last year and got the one I have now.

I have a Palm Pilot and do not see how I lived without one before! I can organize assignments, meetings, to do lists, all sorts of stuff. I can set alarms for eveywhere I have to be, plus it is fun to use. I am probably the only person I know to have one, so my friends think I am the dorkiest thing ever, but it is worth the ridicule :) (I know they are just jealous!) I have never been able to stick to a planner before, they were always to big. I can keep my Palm in my purse so it is really convenient. If I lost my Palm my life would fall to pieces. It has really helped me become organized and to manage my time.

I used to live by my Palm IIIxe. When I bought it in 2001, it was the next best thing since sliced bread! I kept everything on that thing. I had the whole Bible on there, as well as a few games. I even downloaded the food points lists for Weight Watchers! That came in really handy at restaurants!

However, once I became a member of Zeta this year, I needed to look at my schedule all at once, not day-by-day. So therefore, I diverted back to my trusty paper DayTimer. Worked much better for me.

The only thing I have maintained is my Palm Hot Sync software. Thank goodness for that! I lost my cellphone a couple of weeks ago, and I was able to re-program my numbers in my new phone from that.

I want a new color Palm, but for now, my Day Timer is doing the job rather well.

That's the one feature I really miss. I don't see how they could do that on a Palm, though, without having a HUGE screen (or tiny print).

i have the m515, which is a color palm. i've noticed that the it sucks up battery life pretty quickly compared to black and white ones. but i like the fact that it is in color so i just stick it on the charger more than i normally would have...

hahaha.. i thought this thread was about palm reading or something! :p

I had always wondered about palm pilots too... I'm the type who likes to see what i have to get done, etc. weeks at a time.. .it that possible to see that with a palm pilot?
