People who you have a lot of respect for
What kind of people do you have a lot of respect for?
People who: *put themselves through college *are/were nurses *are/were janitors, and the rest of the people who do the "dirty work" *are/were morticians *are/were teachers, especially of disadvantaged or troubled students *support themselves at an early age *volunteer to fight for this country *are honest *are nice to everyone *are very forgiving *are/were servers, as an ex-hostess we didn't always get along with each other, but I witness a lot of crap they go through |
My grandmother.
She was widowed at age 31. When her husband passed away she had 5 kids age 10 and under (my mom was 7)...and was pregnant with twins! She never remarried and raised all 7 kids alone...in addition, she even raised some of her grandkids |

Oh, and, musicians who can actually sing without studio enhancement, write their own songs/lyrics, and (this is a toss up) can play an instrument.
Don't have a lot of those around anymore. |
At graduation this past December we had a couple who graduated after beginning at the university 20 years ago. He was the head janitor on-campus and she was the asst. mgr. in the bookstore. Our school has a program where you can take one class per semester for free if you are an employee there and they did that until they got their degree. I think that was AMAZING!!

And, my mother, who after divorcing my dad and my step dad, was able to buy a nice car and house on her own with no help from anyone.
BTW, the lesson here is that it pays to have great credit, so don't f*ck it up! |

my mom and dad.
they will be married for 30 years this March, and there oldest child is 25! they have had so many bad things happen, and more is happening every day, but they believe in for better and worse and got help when they needed! Like on Thursday my dad was dianogned with small cell lung cancer, my family of corse cried, but my mom and dad are both showing love to us and each other! Plus my parent used to be foster parents, so I have like 20 foster sister and brother, not to mention my "real" brother and sister. I admired them so very very much! |
Garbage men - It's a dirty job, but they do it!
The housekeeping staff at a college - These people clean up some NASTY sh*t! Firepeople & policepeople (are those the pc terms?) - Every day they are faced with danger, but still continue to do their jobs. |
i jsut have to say it again..TEACHERS. They have to put up with a lot. Also, I think that anyone who does any kind of maintenace work...electiricans, plumbers, mechanics, etc deserve a lot of respect. they've saved all of us from having to spend a whole lot more money than necessary.

CNA's...It is the grunt work (I should know, I do it every night), but it is very rewarding. I respect people that do it.

My mother went to nursing school after high school and earned her RN at 20. A few years later when I was a newborn she returned to college. When she was a college student she gave birth to both of my sisters. She missed her final semester of final exams because my youngest sister was due. Her professors let her write papers instead. At 30 she completed her college degree. She returned to work full time until my father passed away when she was 33. She was a stay at home mother for several years since we were so young. She also took care of her elderly parents during those years since she was their only child. At 38 she decided that she wanted to change her life and that education was the best way to do that. She went to law school locally and made the dean's list as she raised my sisters and me. When she was 41, she graduated from law school. She continued to be a stay at home mother until she felt that we were ready for her to be out of the house. She began her career at a law firm in Manhattan where she eventually became the first woman partner. She is an inspiration to all who know her. :)

My parents - they raised my sister and I, didn't always have a lot of money, but have sent us both to college and have been amazing parents along the way.
People who pay their way through school - I did it, and it's not easy at all, so I respect those others who did what I had to do. People who don't make excuses - if you messed up, say you messed up, and don't try to blame it on others or some mysterious factors. Those people who take the blame for what they did I have a ton of respect for. |

Teachers, policemen, firemen, armed service
People of extreme intelligence who also have the ability to communicate amicably. Artists of any kind People who have overcome great obstacles not only to help themselves, but to help others. Little children under 6 or so-they can help you remember what life SHOULD be like. Unless spoiled, they are the very best of all of us. |
