It is funny that you are making this comment about this particular poem .The author was actually an atheist. ( For the life of me I can' t remember his name).

Well to each her own, and I think we are allowed to interpret things to suit our own needs. Funny as it may seem, I am far from
an atheist! Sisterly |
Although I may be the captain of my fate, I believe a higher force blows wind into the sails of my ship. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

"I am the captain of my fate."
Are we really the captain of our fate? No, Jesus is the captain of our fate and our soul.
Just a little Gospel Note. Pinkice9 |
you are correct, although Jesus gives us the choice to let him be Captain or we can choose to run the show our own selves, which is not a great idea from my experience.

I love that quote and as a matter of fact I had to state the entire poem many times while I was on line. I just wanted to say why can't you be the Captain of your soul by allowing The Almighty Savior to rule! I know I am the MASTER of my fate and the CAPTAIN of my soul, by simply allowing GOD in. We all have a choice here. I know our paths are laid before you are even conceived but in life we do have a choice!

LadyAKA I hope you did not take my comment negatively. Of course you can interpret the poem the way you want. That is the whole point of any writings. I happen to love this poem too. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I think the reason that the poem was writing is to get the athesist prospective at work. The devil is busy in more aspects than one and only Jesus can be your captain and you are the crew. That is why people ask Jesus to guide them. How can you be guide through still waters with no captin?

Diarra LOL (LOTS OF LOVE) - No harm done, thanks for the clarification.
Soror pinkice9, I see what you are saying but like I said we can interpret things differently and I chose to see it how I have stated before, and plus ALL MAN MADE THINGS ARE CREATED IN VAIN, what you do with it is what counts most. I know that there is only one LORD of all which guides me and created me. One last thing - I think it is safe to say that interpretation is based some what on a person's creativity and ability to think outside of the box. Whether the poem was written by an atheist or Christian - without getting tooooooo deep I enjoy what the words mean! Sisterly |
