Erik Conard, TKE and Great Exponder!
I had the pleasure of Seein Erik Conard, a TKE from way back.
Call it a small GC meeting but with two very old Friends! It is to long a story to get into but we sat for 3 1/2 hours discussing Greeks and our rememberences of Yores of Gone Buys! Here is his reply to mine on TKE thread: Erik P Conard Senior Member Registered: Jun 2001 Location: Arvada, CO Posts: 174 minutae Did indeed have a marvelous visit with Tom Earp; he is a credit to Lambda Chi, and like many of us, our outfits send but rarely receive. Some timely thoughts after forty-plus years as a Greek: ---now is time to grow. Young folks hungry for mentors, for a sense of belonging. Double your size, double your chapters on campus and you will automatically double your clout. We are upping our size, now up yours. ---sororities, dump those damned quotas and let others on. And although many will not join the bottom ones, quotas will not help, but the new blood will. ---IFCs, be what you were supposed to be: helping each other, not making stupid rules. ---Greek Advisors...insist that each chapter have an active advisor and a functioning board which meets each month. You will cut your brain damage in half and produce top chapters. And all will love you...rightly so...and it'll be a fun trip. ---if you drink, be a drinking scholar. Quit pissing on the Pike porch or barfing on the SAE lion. Get busy, get positive, get real. ---try to help reactivate a nearby chapter who stubbed its toe some years ago. We will all be wealthier for it. ---FINALLY, do not deny a good person a chance to be a Greek. Have over half your pledge class made before school opens. And, remember, Fraternity is for Life! Enjoy....'uncle Erik' __________________ Erik P Conard E C has more knowledge and still retains a vast store of Knowledge and keeps up with the goings on for all Greeks and Colleges! |
I Hear Echoes Of Wilson Heller
Never met Conard, but he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. Everything he says in your quotes is true. Wilson Heller was the founder of all thought in that direction. He is missed.
