Biggest mistake made on the job?

What's the biggest or most funny mistake you ever made on the job?

My first week as a geriatric counselor, I asked a terminal patient how long she needed our services. I will never be allowed to forget that! :shame:

I was working at West Teleservices and it was like my first or 2nd night on the job. Anyway, I was waiting for the customer to go get his credit card. So while I was waiting, the agent next to me struck up a conversation with me. She asked me how I was liking the job. And this is my reply

" It ok, except for all the psychos. "

Naturally the customer came back right as I said the the word psycho. And wacky hijicks ensued from there:o :D

p.s. The customer was pretty mad. But I managed to explain myself and keep my job

Just yesterday, I discovered to my chagrin that while on a conference call, if I put it on hold, the rest of the people on the con call can hear the phone's hold music. :o

Oh wow, that's funny... whenever I have to be on a conference call, I mute the phone so that I can talk to whoever's around me :D

Yeah, this is the biggest reason that a counselor can NOT use a standard form... I feel awful about it to this day!

Biggest mistake on the job? Hmm.....probably taking it! Hehehe

Seriously, it's probably letting my boss do what he wants on the testing computer. He changed the fonts when we were working one day. I tried to change them back, and he said, "You are going to go blind if you keep them that small! I can't work like this." I said, "ooookkk." The next day, the other doctor came in and realized that the two subjects that were tested that day....yeah, their data was ruined. Six hours worth of work that cannot be brought back.

Did you hear the one about the $50,000 error?

When I worked for a stock broker, his handwriting was so bad that I bought $50,000 worth of the wrong stock (I mis-read the symbol). Thankfully, I was able to sell it back, buy the CORRECT one and by then, the price of the correct one had gone down a bit that we even came out $3,000 on top! Yay!! :)

My ex-company had a website due to go live on a certain day. At COB the day before the launch date, someone from creative came running up to me with new HTML. I checked it out in IE, put it into the production environment, and went home for the day... Too bad the new HTML was completely f*cked up if you viewed it in Netscape... :o

Does actually taking the offer of the job qualify? Almost five years ago, I took a job that I lasted two weeks. That was definitely one of the biggest mistakes I had ever made.

I was working in an office. The surpervisor told me that they were having an important meeting, and they could not be disturbed. I answered the phone and a man said they he wanted to talk to the supervisor. I said that they were in a meeting and could not be disturbed. He said tell them it's so and so. I said that they couldn't be disturbed. He is getting annoyed and my supervisor sticks her head out and asked has So and So called. I said that he was on the line. She said why didn't you put him through. She told me not to disturb her important meeting. What I didn't realize was the important meeting was conference call with him. Oh well. I was just a kid. :p
