Oprah's On: Town Hall Meeting: Imus Controversy: Now What?
I received the premiere issue of "O" yesterday in the mail and was wondering if anyone else has had a chance to read through it. For those of you who don't know, I love to read magazines and have several subscriptions, and could not resist adding "O" to the list since I'm an Oprah fan. I was pretty impressed with the first issue. I especially liked the interview Oprah did with Dr. Camille Cosby. I think there are more great things to come from Oprah. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

AkAtude what's so good about her magazine, what is it offering different from others, i imagine its not like Essence its spin or audience would be whom? just wondering before i spend my $2.50 lol. she's bored now she got to do something with all those millions, lol ok i'm done, can you tell i don't particularly care for Oprah anymore. Why? cause she gets on my nerves lol, some things she says make a sista wonder what's going on in her little world. Anyway i know she does some great things, so i ain't mad at her.
Can already hear Oprah fans screaming "don't you say nothing bad about my Oprah" lol. |

Greetings Sorors,
I must admit, I really like the magazine. I found some great articles as well as the motivational cards and bookmarks. The magazine is very classy and a bargain for only $12 for a year subscription. SKEE-WEE! Soror Antwinette |
I like the motivational/inspirational cards as well. The magazine held my attention and that is a big plus in my book. "O" is a magazine that is targeted to women; not just a particular group of women. That is what I like about it. It has something for everyone, regardless of your ethnicity or age. "O" is a magazine that my mom and I can share, unlike some of the others.
I know that not everyone is an Oprah fan. I lot of my relatives say she gets on their nerves, too. However, I find her to be positive and motivational. "O" is Oprah's outlet for when her talk show ends and I think she made a smart move. |
Thanks for the feed back i will check it out, i'm all for helping a sista.

Soror AKAtude is the name of the mag "O"? And I think Soror PositivelyAKA asked what makes it different then other women magazines already out there, anyone care to elaborate?
I saw one post that said it is not just targeted to one audience, to me that meant "BLACK" women, and right now I am into that. I am into being black and getting help with issues surrounding the Black Woman; that is why I love Essence and Ebony (I know these mag's deal with men and women, but right now I need that magazine that is focused on just being BLACK today). I hope yall understand I am not trying to start controversy, you know I got love for this board and for Oprah - I am actually finding the new me with her NEW Monday Special - I just want to know what makes her magazine DIFFERENT? Sisterly |
LadyAKA, I understand what you are saying. I have subscriptions to Essence and Heart and Soul because they are targeted to us. I think "O" is different simply because it gives inspiration and motivation. Oprah has extended her talk show into the written word. So, if you like "change your life" tv, you just might like the magazine as well.
But if you only want a magazine that focuses on Black women, then this may disappoint you. I would suggest a subscription to Heart and Soul. I just got the most recent issue yesterday and it is the best one yet! I bet you'll love it! [This message has been edited by AKAtude (edited June 01, 2000).] |
Thanks for the advice, actually you just reminded me that I did want to subscribe to that magazine, I couldn't think of the name - your the best. Thanks
Maybe I will check out the first edition of Oprah's magazine, and I do like the whole "change your life" thing. thanks again |
I, too read Oprah's new mag...it's funny my caucasian Pharmacist handed it too me at work the other day and was like "Look what I have!" So I leafed through it...I was somewhat disappointed though, b/c it wasn't what I thought, I thought it would be geared more towards black women. Not that it's a bad thing that it isn't, it just wasn't what I was expecting.
But let me tell you something funny, my pharmacist is like really "Valley-girl/As IF" type of woman...so after she showed me the mag...she was like "Oh and I also bought Macy Gray's(sp) new CD" and I am like well...congratulations!!! She was such a sheltered little priss!!!UUUGGGHHH! LIke over the PA system "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" (of course Aretha Franklin) was playing and she was like "Oh I just love Anita Baker...me and a co-worker glanced at her and the other Pharmacist was like.."just grin and let it go!!" But back to the subject at hand...Did anyone hear that Oprah is going to be on the cover of every issue of the magazine?? My sister told me this...TACKY ------------------ 'Cause I'm a woman, Phenomenally Phenomenal Woman That's me Maya Angelou |
Today: Jamie Foxx...he sings! (ETA)
Tomorrow: Kirk Franklin talks about his "addiction". |
missed the Jamie show. :(
But I won't miss Kirk and his addiction! |
Jamie is sooo adorable. I love him.
|
I was up at 1 am and saw the replay of Jamie. I didn't know Tank was one of his boys. That man is still fine. I cant wait to hear Jamie's album. :)
