Book Club?

Several people who reponsed to the "Disappearing Acts" Discussion were interested in starting an 'on line' book club. With the permission of our Moderator, I'd like to see exactly how many people would be interested, and what format they would like to see. Let me hear from you:

1. Would you be interested in participating in an on-line book club? YES/NO

2. Would you prefer a THREAD such as the ones here where people could post at anytime, or would you prefer a CHAT on a specific date/time?

After I get some feed back on these 2 questions, those interested can work out the details (what types of books to read, who will participate, etc.)

Thanks to all that thought this was a good idea!

Eclipse:

1.) Yes
2.) Chatting at a particular date/time would be best (I prefer evenings), but a thread with book club comments MIGHT work.

Hope to see this up and running soon, and I hope we can tackle a wide variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction!

I like the suggestions that DG submitted. Having a specific time to chat would be good while still having a thread for comments about the book for those who may not be able to chat.

1. yes
2. chatting would be nice, but my hours fluctuate depending on overtime, so posting would be more beneficial.

Yes, I am interested in the book club.

Posting is better for me...but a chat time would be nice too. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

1. Yes, I am interested in the bookclub also.

2. Posting would be be better for me, but if there is a designated chat time (hopefully after work, I can't chat at work because of firewalls and such), I would participate in that also.

ELCLIPSE,

Just keep me posted. I would love to particpate in a book club. I am just starting, "The Bluest Eye", by Toni Morrison. Reading gives me a place to escape the maddness of this world. \

Great idea!

I too, would love to participate...I spend most of the hot summer months indoors(when not working), and this is a very constructive way of spending that time. I LOVE Toni Morrison, and I think that ANY book by her would be an appropriate first choice.

How would we go about choosing a book...would we have a majority vote or what? Maybe my questions are a bit premature, but I just wanted to put forth my ideas and show interest.

YOu guys are wonderful, always coming up with new, innovative ideas to keep the sisterly love flowing.....sniff...sniff

Yes, I would definitely like to be a part of an on-line book club. I, however, will not be able to participate until you guys start reading self-help/psychology books. No I ain't crazy but I have spent so much money on books by Iyanla Vanzant, T. D. Jakes, Soror Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant and others ... that I just can't move on to buying any other books and I can't seem to finish these books quick enough. I heard the authors say, it is because I am not motivated and most of these books talk about looking inside 'the self' and I am not sure if I am ready to do that, but if you ladies start to read any self-help books I am sure I got a copy on the bookshelf and I would be more then happy to join in. So please keep me in the loop on this...thanks.

oh and posting would be better for me - but chatting on the weekend works for me.
