INT. Confrence?
FYI Next Conference???? WOW
I ynderstand the next Maj Conference will be at a Scout Camp! Boy That is!!! Brothers will being sleeping in tents on cots! Cutting cost seems to have taken a real trend:o |
I hate to say it but not only would that cut costs....
But I would love it.... I love camping/roughing (I think its a hold over from the army), I think it would be a big step in bringing the brothers closer together; plus the relaxed atmosphere would help some of the "tighter" guys loosen up. My only concern is that they are doing this to "Control" the attendies more (no fun, booze, or girls). I know that the last regional that I was at (D.C.) they constantly hammered home this point.... my feeling is this: If the individual is such a jackass that he would not only embarass himself and his chapter, not to mention the Fraternity as a whole, at an international event; the why the hell is he a brother in the first place? Remember the open moto(s) "Every man a man" and "Naught without labour" (or more correctly translated "that which is worthwhile is difficult"). If we are not "man" enough to police or control ourselves then what business do we have representing Lambda Chi Alpha? |
Bro Cooper,
you reach a age in time that roughing it is a Motel with a Black and White TV!!:) Cutting cost this much may be an experience but it could be an experence also not staying in High Price Hotels! Hell, a bed, tv, shower, and I am in! I did my trip of bags on ground and cots in tents! That was the good old days!:) |
Guys,
Don't forget this is a Leadership Seminar year and not a General Assembly year. LS's are more focused on education and less on creature comforts (just ask the guys who sweated in 100 degree heat in Iowa State two years ago). This facility has a low ropes course, as well as other facilities to promote "teamwork activities". One note...there is more free time at this conference than there has been in the past. In terms of "control", there wasn't anything near the facilities in Iowa, so this isn't very different. But I do agree with Brother Cooper that individuals should exercise the appropriate personal responsibility at this or any conference. in ZAX, Eric -------------------------------------------------- Eric D.
