Freak Dancing?

Just saw this on local news from Portland Or.

Sex with closes on at Prom!

SORRY, BUT SHIT IS THIS DOINGS? :(

Uhhhh, I'll take a stab at this and guess you're talking about grinding? Like, people being lewd at prom or something???

Yep, Tom, unfortunately it's the norm these days. I'm pretty young and even I remember when saying you knew how to dance meant dance moves....and now its just faking copulation on the dance floor.... girls don't want guys to think they're slutty and won't sleep with them on the first date but they'll get practically naked and dry hump....figure that out :D

P.S. Don't get me wrong I've been known to "dance" like that too, occasionally...all in good fun, girls, all in good fun:cool:

Edited b/c I just reread this and you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic....I think grinding has a time and a place and I'm definitely guilty of doing it when I go out...all I'm saying is that some people call themselves "trained dancers" at auditions and stuff and can't do any more than that

texas*princess 06-12-2003 12:15 AM

hehehe.. yea that was pretty much the norm at every high school prom I went to.. with the exception of a slow dance song every now & then.

I personally never "freak danced" at prom or any other formal I've been to.. call me prim & proper, but I feel silly all dressed up like a princess and dancing to "Back that Thang Up" :p

AlphaGamDiva 06-12-2003 12:15 AM

oooh....yeah, leave it to MY class in hs to be the ones who brought about a "dance code".... -sigh-

b/c the "freak dancing" was so bad, they adopted a strict rule about how ppl can and cannot dance....it was posted on the website, but i'm not sure if it's still up or not...will look for it so you all can have a good laugh.

i admit that some dancing is pretty crude, but i mean, come on....it's really not that big of a thing. swing dancing is pretty crude, too, if ya think about it....swinging chicks around over shoulders and havin them tossed around straddling guys and on their backs on the floor.....

i like to dance, i shake my thang, and oops....i occasionally have been known to grind..... ;) you're all shocked, i'm sure. :p but i do my thang.....my friend chris, who just so happens to be a black fellow, introduced me to one of his friends as, "this is monica....she's a black girl trapped in a white girl's body".....i work it. don't you worry. :) :D ;)

My freshman year in HS (96-97), the dancing wasn't so bad. You got freaky, but nothing to stir a fuss about. It wasn't till that evil class of 2001 got into things. That class brought a bunch of guys who would just stand in the corner and try to freestyle, a bunch of wallflowers (not there that first year), and a bunch of people who would just sit there all night.

After that, they put in all the rules about grinding.......ruined a lot of the fun.

That's what happens with our society these days, everyone's overdoing everything, and a lot of the fun has to end.

grindin', you betta stay in line when you see a n* like me
shinin. . .GRINDING!

I freak dance but that's because I have rhythmn
It's no big deal and it turns some guys on
But that's because I don't like flailing my arms like a raver
And I don't like organized cheerleading dancing
And I'm not into river-dancing
A stripper on my hall freshman year taught me to freak dance

But I also know how to salsa, merengue, cha-cha, foxtrot, and waltz

Dancing is a way to express yourself without saying a word.

Boy, does this thread bring back memories...

The first time I encountered "freak dancing" was at Cotillion, of all places...I was 14, from the country, never so much as kissed a guy, and then I walk in my first dance and see kids my age doing things I thought belonged in X-rated films! It wasn't really that bad, but it seemed like it then. I'm still a little shocked when I see girls "dancing" with their legs 'round guys' waists...but it's so common now, most people I know wouldn't blink an eye.

If anyone remembers that story in the news of a Vice Principal inspecting girls underwear making sure they weren't wearing thongs...well that was my old high school. The VP said she did it to protect the girls when they are freak dancing. She got fired becuz of it.

banned in Miami

When I was teaching high school in Miami in the late 90s, the school board actually passed a "no dirty dancing" rule.

So yes, the faculty chaperones actually had to go up to those students & actually tell them to "cool it."

All this from the city that brought you 2 Live Crew and the original home of booty music.

Slightly off the subject but I just thought of this when I was reading the other posts...back in 1998, me and my ex-boyfriend won a dirty dancing contest at a fraternity party, lol.

Jadey28 06-13-2003 10:24 AM

I remember being in middle school (1991-1994) and at our school dances we had rules of how close we could be dancing together. We had to have 6 inches or a foot (I can't remember the exact number) between the two partners. LOL, such silly times :)

White_Chocolate 06-13-2003 11:38 AM

Some kids are using this to make up for having to dance girl-girl in squaredancing class.
