Are you an active member,
The kind that would be missed
Or are you just content to see
Your name on the list?

Do you attend the meetings,
And mingle with the flock
Or do you always stay at home
And criticize and knock?

Do you take an active part,
To help your group along
Or are you simply satisfied
To say that you belong?

Do you ever volunteer
To help the guiding stick
Or leave the work to just a few,
Then talk about the clique?

Come out to all the meetings,
And help with hand and heart.
Don't be just a member,
But take an active part.

Participate in all the events,
And stay until the the end.
Don't leave the work to just a few,
Be faithful and chip in.

Just think this over, Soror,
You know right from wrong;
Are you an active member
Or do you just belong?

Greetings Sorors!
I just sent the poem to my sorors from my undergrad chapter because we are facing some serious issues. You are really speaking to someone's heart. To any soror who is not active, my question is why? Why do you even claim AKA if you aren't working for AKA?

Soror Anydaynow, thank you for sharing this poem. It would have been a great addition to the last edition of the Ivy Leaf.

The first time I saw that poem was on a SGRho website. That was about 2 yrs ago. The author is unknown...

This message came right on time for some thanks for taking the time to post it....my chpater President read it to us at a chapter meeting sometime last year.

I wish I could claim it as my own piece of work but unfortunately it is not http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif The author is unkown. During MIP we were given several poems, chants and songs and this is one the poems that really inspired me and I just wanted to share it with everybody.

Let's keep continue to be REAL MEMBERS and uphold Ethel H. Lyle's vision!!!
