This was sent to us by a Phi Sig from the Zeta Alpha chapter (which is in our Division 30 - which rocks). Anyway, Lets see if we can help The Messies win and start Lauren on her way to become a famous Phi Sig Music Star.

Dear Sisters

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well. I'm Aiming High right now and need all the help I can get from my fellow Phi Sigs.

I'm currently in a band called The Messies. 102.7 KIIS FM (Southern California) is having a "we want to make you famous" contest and we're totally kicking major booty. BUT, we need people to call in or email requests to Rick Dees' morning show. The other bands are close behind us and we need to keep ourselves in first place. It would be really cool to have some Famous Phi Sigs out there setting a good example. :) The request information is included below along with some more info about my music. Help me out please! Make me famous!

MORE DETAILED STORY HERE
Long time top 40 DJ Rick Dees is looking for bands and artist to promote on his morning radio show. The ultimate goal for Rick and the production team is that they will find new unsigned talent and help them get a record contract through their exposure. The contest is wrapping up next week and so far we are the favorite. We've been played 8 or 9 times during the show including a live broadcast performance at the Anaheim Pond. We want to remain the favorite of course, so we need help convincing KIIS that people are listening and like us.

If you don't wake up early enough to call the station or you don't live in So Cal, you can email requests instead. As far as i've seen there is no limit to the emails. It does ask for your return email address so I need as many people as possible with valid email addresses to request us. If you can get some other people to do this too, or at least borrow their email address that would be fantastic!

WHAT DO WE SOUND LIKE?
Really poppy rock. You'll like it, trust me. American Hi-fi, No Doubt, Beach Boys, Weezer, etc. You can hear the song played on the radio through www.Rick.com On the main page is a section about the contest and you can click on "the messies" to open the streaming version.

WHEN ARE WE PLAYING NEXT?
I wish I knew. Right now we're trying to finish mixing and mastering our CD and win the radio contest. Hopefully when the Album is done we'll have a CD release show. You can get updates by checking out www.themessies.com

I'm sure you're all thinking the contest is over and that I'm going to tell you we won.

Unfortunately they're EXTENDING the contest until NEXT Friday, June 20th!

And to make things extra stressful, we're now LOSING TO AN OTHER BAND. From what Rick Dees and the station told us today, an Asian pop boy band called At Last is barely squeezing ahead of us. We also learned that the winner will be featured on the weekly top 40 count down which would give our band National exposure. This is definitely a prize to fight for. That means I absolutely need everyone's help. We can still win this!

At this point, emailing is best. Calling the station is difficult as some of you have experienced because the lines are almost always busy. The station does check emails frequently but they are not paying attention to repeat email addresses. I encourage everyone to email at least once a day until Friday morning. I would really love it of course if people could email randomly throughout the day/night or whenever possible. This way they don't see 10 emails in a row from the same person which might look suspicious.

Aside from the contest, we're playing a show at the El Rey Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday at 7:15
Presale tickets are 5 bucks and tickets at the door are 12. Email me if you need more info on presale.

HEY sisters!

I just got an email back from my SDC Morgan saying that some women posted on this Greekchat about voting for my band. I was very touched by this and I wanted to say thank you to everyone that helped out. I had no idea this message board was here so now I'm totally excited to chat with other phi sigs!

Today is thursday and I have ONE MORE day to vote before the contest is over. Unfortunately we're still in second place (barley) and the radio station has called us several times to give support and encourage us to rally help. KIIS fm really wants us to win but we have to earn it.

Hey there Lauren,

My chapter sister, June, emailed your info to all the Iota Gammas, and so, avid Greekchatter (GCr) that I am, I posted the info for all our other sisters to see. June was going to try to tell you to post on here so I'm glad that Morgan did. Hey is Morgan registered on GC, whats her screenname and why hasn't she posted at least in Phi Sig Roll Call at the top of this forum, for that matter don't forget to post yourself.

Now are any of the Zeta Alphas going to come to Downtown Disney on July 12th for a Greekchat gathering? Check out the thread in this forum or there is a thread in the general forum called So Cal greek chat gathering....

Anyway, I've got friends all over CSUDH sending in emails for you from all their different email accounts. I so hope the Messies win, you guys are so much better then At Last.

Honestly, I don't know if Morgan is registered on here but I can find out.

I'll rally the ZA troops, get them on this forum and see who's up for the july 12th event, sounds like a good time!

Tomorrow at 7:10 KIIS is going to announce the winner and I'll definately let you know. Thank you so much for getting your friends to help too :) Maybe some of you can make it to our show next Thursday.

So the band lost BUT...
 

ok so yeah can you fucking believe it??? the Asian boy band won. I've heard their stuff and seen them and honestly, my band is way more sellable to a large pop culture audience...Nuff with the bitterness

On a lighter note :) the radio station callled us today to say they wish we would have won and they're going to help us promote our show this thursday. I think they plan on continuing to play us also. Because of everyone's requests, the station is aware that we are liked and there is a demand for us which is REALLY REALLY GOOD. A few big lables have already called the station to try to get in touch with us about making some deals. As one band member put it earlier today, "We didn't win but we'll have the last laugh cause we'll actually get signed!"

Thank you thank you thank you for all you efforts. Trust me, this band is gonna go far and this was an excellent way to introduce us to the world and the music biz.
